Civil War Watch

**** polls (!!!), so throw you opinions out there about:

How long before it starts?

How long does it last?

What will the war look like?

What will the Mason Dixon line look like?

Will there be any special rules?

How many die?

Who wins?

We do any 'Nam reenactments?

No, we don't. Mostly because it was the shit...
I can appreciate this, but I think there might be some value to re-enactments to give people a sense of what the men who actually had to wade through that surf under fire or march up those hills went through. It is a helpful lesson of history for people to know what the fighting men face and how terrible war is. Maybe reenactments are not the only way to do that, but they could be one way.

A good book on the civil war that talks about current day re-enactors is called
Confederates in the Attic.

I found the book to be interesting and funny how serious people are in preserving the history that took place at different battle sites during the civil war.

I bet some of the guys who are into that sort of things have P-40s and Mustangs. Someone probably has a Stuka. I think they're focused on the European tour.

This movie should be in the bad movie thread in the media forum called Pearl Harbor with Ben Affleck. The movie is just plain awful.

There is a lot of manufactured anger out there. People have so much time on their hands they have to create issues to be angry at.

A Civil War will happen only if it's real anger over real issues.

It would be interesting to watch if someone made paint ball muskets.
