Paul Ryan is a superstar

He's giving a good presentation on GOP efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare right now. It's amazing that there are members of the House (notably members of the freedom caucus) who don't understand the Senate concept of reconciliation. The freedom caucus, Rand "grandstand" Paul, and the most moderate senators had better not screw this up. Donald Trump needs to be prepared to hold their feet to the fire.

We don't need to have a perfect bill. Just saying they're going to replace it already is imperfect.

But it's still VERY FLAWED and won't deliver the promise of affordable health care. It can't. It has one of the most perverse items, that is anathema to the right, left in—the individual mandate but this penalty gets paid to insurance companies? Some of you think Democrats are going to approve of that? Or a bail out of the insurance industry?

Come on..........

He'd have to detail it, but I'm about 99.999% certain that HH is talking out of his ass between theoretical regulatory enforcement, which is doable vs Congressional override of their legislative authority.

Enforcement guidelines wouldn't trigger it as "new legislation" to be subject to the CRA.

Administrative decisions don't supercede the legislation even if the law gives the agency the latitude in dealing with the implementation and enforcement of specific agency aims and overcite.

They could say we are looking the other way if plans are offered that don't cover the required essential benefits, but then the state insurance commissioners would have to agree with allowing it since they have full control of certification and approval of health insurance plans regulated by each state.

That would still not trigger CRA review because of an administrative policy decision.

They would have to get past a filibuster to introduce stripping the essential benefits legislation, or get past a filibuster to introduce insurance plans across states on a national level that are not subject to state review.

It shoulda' never been done in secret though. Rand pushed against that too.
Just disgusting. They may get Ds, maybe but they lose conservatives who are having none of this.

There is nothing wrong with tweaking it more.

Okay so per this, Trump supports it but only because Ryan has pulled-the-wool over Trump on it. As a NeoCon, he's engaging in the usual tactic of lying to get something. So Trump, apparently doesn't even know what's wrong with it. He will soon enough if enough voices rise against it.

There were points that Rand claimed Trump agreed with him on, I read elsewhere. Not here but don't recall where. However, this says the same.

Totally Agree 150% !!! Like I have said all along it's not the Dems who are our No.1 enemy but it is the faux GOPers who also don't want the swamp drained for obvious reasons who are our No.1 enemy.

Medicare.

Tell the millions of people over 65 to get private insurance and see how many can even find an insurance policy. No insurer is going to offer a plan to the oldest and sickest. Not one that they could even imagine of affording.

Medicare and Medicaid overhead is less than 2%.

Private insurance overhead is 15 to 25%.

Before the ACA, some insurance companies were claiming overheads of over 60%.

That means for every dollar that came in, only 40 cents was actually spent on providing health care.

M&M 98 cents per dollar goto actually patient care & services.

That conservative blowback comes from people who are either ignorant of the constraints of reconciliation or they're disingenuously targeting people who are ignorant of the constraints of reconciliation.

My understanding is that the essential coverage rules are established by regulation not statute. Even if the enabling legislation remains, if a regulation requiring coverage of nose jobs is CRA-ed, no regulation requiring coverage of nose jobs would be allowed to be re-established.

It wasn't done in secret any more than any other draft legislation. Don't fall for Rand's fake news sideshow.
