Geno Smith fans roll call

NEW THREAD HEADER (11/17/12):

The list is gone. We will all be Geno Smith fans when he gets drafted by the Chiefs. For historical documentation's sake, I'll keep the list in a separate post on this thread: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=3314

WHY GENO SMITH?
If you're wondering if Geno Smith is right for you, check out this brilliant post by Saccopoo:

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=5388

Next, we have a few GIFs you may be interested in from the Oklahoma game. Insane potential. These are the elite throws that very few QBs can make. What more can I say? Geno Smith can be a franchise QB in the NFL, and the Chiefs need to take a shot on him.

GIF #1:
Spoiler!

GIF #2:
Spoiler!

GIF #3 (My favorite):
Spoiler!

HOW DO WE GET HIM HERE?

Glad you asked. I posted this checklist earlier. It probably belongs in the thread header, and will be updated as the Chiefs close out their season and start a new chapter in their franchise story.

Preparing for Geno Smith's Arrival In KC Checklist

1. [X] Lose games and acquire the #1 overall pick
2. [X] Get Pioli and the Patriot Way cronies the **** out
3. [X] Hire new GM/coach

OPTIONAL (but highly recommended):
4. [ ] Re-sign/tag Bowe, who really wants to play in KC with Geno
5. [ ] Re-sign/tag Albert

We're not going to go back just for you. The rational debate and discussion happened months ago. I'm done typing out lengthy analyses and evaluations for debate purposes. It's your own fault you didn't read them.

I'm glad Sac is still putting them out for you to read, although not even his brilliant words will penetrate your thick skull apparently. You call for someone to post a meaningful comment and then when someone does JUST FOR YOU, you say, "Okay, cool. I disagree." Way to elevate the conversation you want so badly, jackass.

Also, I could have sworn you were against sucking for Luck last year. You seem like just that kind of guy.

Absolutely not. It was my signature. I argued w/others that our future was messed up when we came back from 28-0 against the Colts.

Tagging Albert is important. He and Geno will develop in to a special tandem.

So a few more converts, eh SNR?

His progressions are going to need some work and a transition to a pure pro-style attack will take some time (and we really have to do that lest we waste Charles).

But there is just no comparison on pure talent - he's easily the most gifted QB in the draft and apart from Bray, the only potentially elite one available (though Jones probably has the 3rd highest upside in the draft in his own right; still think he'd make a great 3rd rounder).

I love Geno but if Pioli is here in April he won't even have him on his big board.

Pioli is a ****face who likes tall QB's who fit the "Tom Brady prototype".

That means Tyler Wilson or...gulp...Mike Glennon.

Sorry but it's the truth. That's why we have to get rid of this clown.

Glennon?

Pioli likes tall QBs, not necessarily QBs who just have necks like ****ing giraffes.

Also, Geno Smith is 6'2". His height is plenty adequate.

Geno Smith is a tall quarterback that fits the Tom Brady prototype.

He just happens to be black.

Apart from that, they are physically extremely similar. And Wilson is not closer to Brady than Geno is...again, apart from being white.

I know he came from Boston and all, so the racism is to be expected. But c'mon, let's not act like he doesn't know how to use a ruler. If Pioli is looking for someone built like Tom Brady, he can't get a hell of a lot closer than Geno Smith.

The person you may be describing would be the Drew Bledsoe mold - the 6'5'' statuesque gunslinger. That would be the Landry Jones, Tyler Bray school of QB building. I don't see anything to suggest that Pioli is a Bledsoe acolyte.

If people are going to say dumb things to degrade Smith (even if they're projecting same on Pioli), they should probably do some homework first.

Bucky Brooks is the worst draft prognosticator in the business, so the fact that he doesn't know what the **** he's talking about with Geno Smith makes me even more confident that Smith will make an excellent franchise QB

Quote:
West Virginia's Geno Smith is the top quarterback prospect on the majority of draft boards across the league, but that doesn't mean everyone is convinced he's a legitimate top-10 pick. An NFC South personnel executive recently cited Smith's hesitancy against the different looks thrown at him after midseason as a potential red flag. While Smith has maintained an impressive completion percentage (70.1) and a gaudy touchdown-to-interception ratio (35:5), the scout said Smith won't pull the trigger on "tight-window" throws at times for fear of tossing an interception. Unfortunately, those are exactly the types of throws Smith would need to make at the next level to be a great player. In addition, the scout didn't seem convinced that Smith possessed the requisite physical tools to merit consideration as a franchise-type player. While he acknowledged that a team in desperate need of a quarterback would likely view Smith in a different light, he said that the West Virginia star is not in the same class as prior QB prospects Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III and Cam Newton.
Smith is a bit hesitant on those tight window throws, but he throws (and completes them) all the ****ing time nonetheless. That's something that will get cleared up with coaching. The other part about Smith lacking all the requisite physical tools is just plain ****ing garbage.

Geno Smith has all the stuff you can't teach. The stuff he needs to work on can be fixed with coaching and game experience (and really not all that much to be honest).

I think a big part of this is the whole Pioli thinking he's smarter than everyone deal.

Think about it. Every single Pioli first round pick is about proving he is smarter than the league.

I'm not convinced that Smith won't hit 6'3'' at the combine. Moreover, seems to stand pretty tall in the pocket.

His height isn't an issue at all, IMO.

I think we're letting the black quarterback thing creep back into discussions when we're disparaging his build in favor of Tom Brady's. The two are close enough to be within the margin for error, that's for damn sure.
