Iron Man 3

From some talk in other threads it looks like Iron Man 3 is getting some traction. Hopefully it lives up to the hype.

As far as Joss Wheden goes, he said he used the Chitauri(sp) as his aliens in the Avengers movie instead of the Kree or the Skrulls because they had such a limited history that he wouldnt infringe on their comic history the way using other more well known alien races would have. If hes willing to do that, then it shows that he will do everything in his power to keep from shitting on the Marvel characters that he loves so much.

As you said so many characters and cosmic entities were involved its Impossible to do the original story.
Imagine the scope of it when you cant even do the Mandarin on screen I mean wtf just give him some plastic rings and shoot fire or something..my oldest boy could make an ipod video with that effect as hes eating his captain crunch.
Anyhow.. yeah at least even the fan boys know were not going to see the original story and can accept its not possible.
That looks like a Ron Lim drawing. He was my favorite illustrator when I read comics back in the day.

Is that the In-Betweener next to the guy on the winged horse? I thought Galactus banished him? I'm so far out of the comic loop....

Definitely looks like Ron Lim art but some of the characters costumes dont match up with his time period. Or the the Infinity Gauntlet time period.
Actually looks more like the cosmic cube time period, but thats defintely the Eric Masterson, bearded, Thor witch would take place during the IG.

That's what I love about them.
I still have stacks upon stacks of them, that I just went through a few days ago.
The stories really are fantastic and did wonders for my vocabulary when I was a child. Found some pretty valuable ones too even though my most valuable ones were stolen. Still have some $100+ books and Silver Surfer #1 worth $1000+

****ing loved when Detroit Steel starts cutting into Iron Man with his huge buzzsaw and Iron Man says "A SAW? ARE YOU SERIOUS?"

And then blows him away.

That's probably a little bit of a stretch. As I recall, Marvel didn't even have the rights to use the Skrulls until well into post-production on the film (if they ever got them back - I think they did - either way, they were tied to the Fantastic Four franchise to which Fox owns the rights).

I bought New Mutants #87 at a po-dunk gas station in MS that I guess the owner's kid was trying to sell.
Mint condition in plastic for a buck. It hovers around $80-100.
I spotted it and was like you have to be kidding me. I knew it as soon as I saw it, because I had the re-print of it that is basically worthless.
Also bought IG #5,6,7 from there. A dollar apiece. $20 or so average value.

I just remember Wheden talking about why he used the Chitauri and he gave that reason. I don't remember him naming the Skrulls specifically.
I had no idea that owning FF rights would give them the skrulls too. They were never featured in any of the movies IIRC. I could be wrong though. I have kind of forgotten those abortions.
Good God what they did to Galactus and the SS was even worse than the Mandarin.

Looks like they are going to reboot Fantastic four. And Johnny Storm is going to be black.
I guess they are not going to care about pissing on the origin content this time either because Susan is going to be white and they are not even going to be paternal siblings.
If you feel you have to put a black person in there to broaden your demographic(which is silly IMO) could you at least just make them both black?

Didn't care much for this movie at all compared to the first two.

That's somewhat debatable. Stane was relatively close as a character, but his relationship with Tony and Stark Industries was completely different. The version of Whiplash from Iron Man 2 is actually a combination of Whiplash and the Crimson Dynamo. Justin Hammer was an old man in the comics.
