With Wylie being decent, can we get out of LDT's contract?

Yeah, let's just get rid of a starter and eliminate any depth we have on the line.

That LDT money could go elsewhere

Compared to other signings since then LDT isn't that bad. It doesn't seem like they're spending that much on OL. Haven't looked up the #'s but I'd bet the Chiefs are bottom half of the NFL on contract money tied up in the O line.

I think the scheme makes being the C pretty damn easy, but that's all the more reason why we shouldn't be overspending to keep Morse.
It's certainly interesting how the following guys have ALL pretty much been average or better at C in this offense:

Hudson
Morse
Fulton
Devey
Reiter

Either someone in the FO is really great at finding credible centers or yes, it's the scheme.

I disagree. I think Andy Heck is a pretty mediocre offensive line coach. Our fundamentals have sucked for a long time. We have always been pretty sketchy at picking up blitzes. Mahomes is doing a great job at avoiding blitzes and using his quick release to avoid sacks.

I don't like Andy Heck much at all. jmo

He’s rehabbed mega-bust Cam Erving*, and the line is playing well with 2 backups.

Both he and Mahomes deserve credit.

*That contract extension everyone thought sucked ass is looking shrewd right now. Hopefully Veach inks a few more deals with ascendant starters on the cheap.

I've repeatedly ripped Heck up one side and down the other, but I'm now willing to eat a nice plate of humble pie... the other Andy has done an excellent job of juggling his way through injuries

And as Cave noted, whatever voodoo spell he has placed on Cam Erving has been nothing short of remarkable... the guy was 100% ass, yet he has somehow turned my biggest O line worry into something I feel soooooo much better about now

That former 1st round bust may well be the long term answer at LG

I'm not surprised at all that we have a good culture for O-line here considering Reid's past.
I AM surprised however that we don't have an all-world O-line by now though, considering Reid's past.

Not that we actually need one, just sayin'.

According to Von Miller we have the best tackle combo in the league.
