2018 Paid Media Consumption

Purely out of curiosity, I was wondering what kinds of media people are using these days. I read a stat the other day that over half of U.S. households are paying for at least some form of streaming media these days, so it'll be interesting to see how CP compares.

I've watched maybe four things on there in the last year, but I voted for it in the poll. I wouldn't sign up for the streaming service on its own, and I would assume many people that voted for it in the poll are in that same boat.

Just trying to guess why the numbers might be surprisingly high.
Yeah, I'm sure there's at least some of that going on.

I keep DirecTv and Hughes NexGen because it's the only way I get tv and internet. I'm far enough in the country for satellite to provide better performance than any of the land lines or over-the-air antennas.

I have Cable and Amazon Prime so I have their video service and most of the music.
I don't use the Amazon video much. It's a throw in right now. I know they're spending a ton on new content though so we'll see where it goes.

I know Comcast is horrible with customer service.....but does anyone have any opinions on their highspeed internet? I currently have DSL through AT&T but we're capped at speeds and Comcast can offer me way higher speeds at the same price with no contract.

No cable - no SAT. We have Netflix, Amazon Prime (Members) Hulu (Daughters account) and Sling(Son's account) Additionally, back in 2004? I think - hell long time ago, the Wife bought me a lifetime subscription to Sirius - had ever since. I "thinK' she paid like 400 bucks for it and I use it constantly. Hell, never listen to ANY local radio and haven't since then.

I thought it might be a pain getting used to streaming after DirecT, but don't miss it at all. Additionally, we bought a little Window HD antennae that we use for local stations. Works like a charm!

I have one of those lifetime sirius subs too, but i never use it anymore. I gave my car to my sister and they made a new rule that you couldn't transfer it anymore so she has it in her car and I just use it (on very rare occasions) via the mobile app.

I cord cut a while ago. I have netflix, amazon (with hbo,) hulu, and I use vimeo alot. I love short films and I spend alot of time watching cool stuff on vimeo.

i also have a slingbox in my condo in KC, so I watch local broadcasts of Chiefs games. No more sunday ticket prices or directv headaches for as long as that little box keeps working. Since the company quit making new hardware, I am a bit unsure how long the service will continue to work, but for now it is brilliant.

My brother and I trade Netflix and Hulu logins and I have Sirius XM in the car. I also pay for Amazon Prime for a few months of the year so that comes with the video service during those times.

Do you have access to Spectrum? I'm paying $84.95 a month for 400mbps (it's actually coming in at about 460 mbps) and they have cheaper options available as well.

You're going to find that it's completely unnecessary at this point.

We rock fiber net at our house, Netflix, YouTube TV (awesome, and gets better all the time as they add channels), Amazon Prime, XBOX Live (cause it all runs through there) and my brother in law gave me his directv login so I can get the Sunday Ticket too.
