Family vacation

We were toying around with doing a driving trip to Myrtle Beach, SC but before we book I want to touch on another option with the CP travel nuts.

Driving to Orlando which surprisingly is only 1 hour further. It will be the hottest time of year unfortunately but I wanted to know about how much you can get done in one day at Universal Studios and Seaworld. The rest of the time would be Cocoa Beach or some other beach.

The entire family would be going so it will be a LONG 2 day road trip going there and getting back. We would also only have 5 full days to enjoy the stuff around us.

Opinions.

Update - We are booked for Orlando now so I'm only looking for suggestions close to there.

Yeah, there were a bunch out there but the prices were higher than we wanted to pay and you had to deal with park re-entry as well. At that point we were just ready to leave because we spent over an hour looking for food that wasn't hot dogs.

I sent Universal an email about our experience and they contacted me today. It appears they are sending us to the park again tomorrow on their dime. Way more than I ever expected from a mere email. My opinion of them has gone up greatly because of that.

We will hit the other half tomorrow and make sure we sit down for dinner before 6pm.

Hot ****ing damn. That is great. Little do they know, they probably just saved a few future customers..

Sucks that you didn't have as good a time as you had originally hoped. I had a season pass to both parks a few years ago and I loved it. I lived literally 2 minutes from Universal at one point, though, so I knew what rides to hit, could go in non-peak days (I once rode Hulk 3 times in a matter of about 10 minutes- so clutch), and jump between parks no problemo. Trying to look at it from your point of view, I would probably agree that either Universal or IOA separately wouldn't be worth a cross-country trip.

You are doing it all wrong. You are supposed to put someone handicapped in your group so you go straight to the front of all lines. A person in a wheel chair can have up to 5 "family members" with them and they advance to the front of all attractions.

Finally back. We had fun today. Knocked out every ride by 12:30pm except Harry Potter. Ate lunch and got to Potter by 2pm and it listed a 2.5 hour wait. Went ahead and got in line and by the time we got to the front of the line the ride broke down. Great luck right?

Fortunately it was fixed in 20 minutes. We got the hell out of dodge as soon as we got off it. Glad to be away from concrete jungle and back in the condo pool drinking a margarita.
