Meet the girl Jason Collins strung along 8 years

Remember where you were when you found out America's greatest living role model, Jason Collins, came out of the closet? Remember the tears of joy you cried when you read President Obama said he "couldn't be prouder" of Collins (despite openly campaigning against gay marriage while running for President)?

Remember when you rushed straight to internet chat boards ready to angrily denounce any intolerant "bigots" who were sure to gay bash him, ready to make that principled stand on acceptance - only to find out everyone was tripping over themselves to congratulate Jason already?

Well turns out Jason Collins strung Carolyn Moos along 8 years without ever having the decency to tell her the truth. She isnow 34 and having her eggs frozen in an effort to keep childbearing a possibility:

While this has to be the price of intolerance (or somehow tied to George W. Bush in some way), what role does Collins play in this? Or is our new national hero blameless for any of his lying? He wasted 8 years of her life, made marriage plans, called off the marriage, never told her the truth. Sounds like an asshole to me. Not someone I'd want my daughter spending 8 years with, whether he turned out gay or was straight.

'I just try to live an honest, genuine life and next thing you know you have the president calling you,' he said. Yeahhhhhh Jason. You're just an honest, genuine guy.

It's not the first time.

And the agenda should be obvious when the poster tears apart a man leaving his wife and kid, as if this doesn't happen all the time (in most cases under much worse pretenses). And then claims that it's worse because he helped fundraise for Obama, as if there aren't a bunch of shady characters fundraising for either party (see Trump and ARod fundraising for Obama).

Nobody in this thread is buying it.

Quite frankly, I haven't seen one story, on Internet or TV talking about Collins since he came out. In fact, I forgot he existed until I saw this thread.

It seems to me that the OP is bit upset over something that has nothing to do with him or his life. Why such outrage over a relationship ending? This shit happens everyday. People break up for various reasons, this is one of them and its not unique to Jason Collins. So why so upset? OP strikes me as a drama queen. When thou protest too much...

Oh, he will be a story so long as he's out at political fundraisers. This thread wouldn't have happened if the guy came out and then left the public spotlight.

Athletes and celebs who get political may not annoy you. I can appreciate your view, even f I do not share it.

I mostly agree with you. The difference between a case like this and the average, run-of-the-mill breakup is presumably that Jason Collins knew all along that he had no intention of making a commitment to this gal whereas in most breakups it's something that changes over time. Of course, after a guy strings you along for long enough without being willing to take that final step, it's kind of time for the gal to decide to move on on her own so if she hangs in anyway, there's some blame to go around.

But like I said, that's a relatively minor quibble.

Just to clarify, Collins did not leave a wife and kid.

I guess you figured out that Collins wasn't released, as you claimed.

He played 6 games for the Wizards and had .7 points and 1.3 rebounds per game. He's not under contract. I don't care.

Only politicians should be allowed to comment on or do anything political!
Athletes and celebs do say a lot of stupid things about political issues. Just like most people. You really need to get a life or something.

If someone did interview the woman and find that she wanted to talk and complain I don't think there's anything homophobic or hateful about it. He's the one that introduced his story to the media. It would be part of the story.
But unless I missed it she didn't say anything about it. All I saw was her photo. I don't know why anyone would bother speculating that she might feel wronged.

Well, but there are many relationships where a person lies about cheating. Or others, and maybe it's the case here, where he tried really hard to make it work and convince himself he could like women, but turns out he didn't. There is no proof he strung her along. It's entirely possible he strung himself along.

Well, I wouldn't count on NBC or CBS to discuss any negative aspects of Jason Collins. He has taken on cult-status with the Left by now. Will they attack their sacred cows? lulz, that would be a first.

It does raise the qeustion of whether gays will now be folded in (and included) as part of the GOP's "war on women". Think about it.

So I’m listening to some Rev while I clear out my morning e-mails, this song comes up and I immediately think of PB.
