Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

yah, but it is so tempting. I'm also eyeing a Freedom Arms revolver .357 for about the same price, maybe a little less. Freedom Arms make very nice, hand crafted revolvers. The have some bigger caliber Freedom Arms guns but we're talking about $2k+ for one.

The want $1500 for it.
That's a bit more spendy than they should be I think...but who knows right now. Still the caliber change can be a bit more involved depending upon which base gun you have.

If you have the 50AE or the 44Mag then going to the other caliber is just a barrel and mag swap since the 50AE and the 44Mag have the same bolt face. Going to 357 mag requires a bolt, barrel, mag and I think spring change. Then again I'd bet shooting a 357 mag in a DE would be like shooting 22LR in any other gun!

the DE's are fun and one of the few gas operated handguns. Barrels are fixed so they can be more accurate than traditional recoil operated pistols.

With a .357 mag conversion, you can shoot .38 ammo for cheap (If you can find it).

How much are conversion kits?

yah, you are correct about the conversions. I think the price is actually very in line because I've seen similar DE for $1,700+ in .44 magnum. Either way, that's a lot to pay for a pistol!

But you can shoot apples off a tree at a 100 yards with one. Like you said they are gas operated. The 357s are dream.

I don't really care for those. One of the first things I replaced on my AR was the crappy base stock, and I have no desire to put something that looks just like it on a different rifle.
