Jamaal not reporting to camp
Per kctv5
Contract possibly http://www.kctv5.com/story/26085982/...-training-camp Chiefs star running back Jamaal Charles won't be showing up Thursday for training camp in St. Joseph until Kansas City ponies up more money, KCTV5 has learned exclusively. Charles is the Chiefs top offensive star, but 10 other running backs have a higher base salary. And he wants more money and is prepared to hold out as long as it takes, a source tells KCTV5. Charles in the middle of a six-year, nearly $28 million contract. He makes about $9 million per season less than Minnesota's Adrian Peterson who has a 7-year, $96 million deal. Detroit's Reggie Bush and Baltimore's Ray Rice also make more than Charles. The Chiefs won 9 of their first 12 games and made the playoffs. Charles touched the ball 85 on 85 percent of the offensive snaps The Chiefs did not have an immediate comment. |

First rule of contracts.
Pay the player for what he's GOING to do, not what he's already done. |

While you are right, you are trying to act like the child's defense is the worst in the league. They aren't.
Still, with no upgrades at receiver or tight end this would be a poor situation.

He would have entirely flamed out behind any OL other than the one KC had. He was so goddamn slow reaching the LOS that he was simply not productive if the OL did not DOMINATE at the point of attack. He was scary as hell running full speed, and I'd never want to try to tackle him in that situation, but until then he was not powerful or elusive. He didn't have a good burst, his vision sucked, and that's why he was terrible after KC's OL declined. He had one great season (behind that dominant OL) and one work horse season. He was a one hit wonder. Charles has thrived behind some terrible OL's. He's NOT like Larry Johnson. |

He's coming off a great season. You do whatever it takes to keep your star player. Putting JC and LJ in the same sentence is ****ing appalling

Apparently we've already discussed a new deal with him, according to Teicher.
This could be the reason for the hold up on the Houston/Smith deals. More moving parts with the three deals.

One says JC is planning to hold out, the other says the Chiefs hope he shows out - which implies they know he is considering holding out. Hope means shit. |
