Let's talk about the Chargers...

Chiefs can wrap up their 3rd straight AFCW title on Thursday w/ a win over the Chargers.

Phyllis typically shits his pants in Arrowhead, but their passing game presents a problem as we saw wk1. Lots of dropped passes on wide open looks. Wk1 looks a lot different if their WR's come down w/ some of those misses.

Chiefs OL gets to go up against Bosa this go around, OL will have their hands full again going up against him and Ingram. OL will need to play a lot better Thurs, than they did today.

Even though it's TNF, Arrowhead will be rockin' for another primetime game and I think Patrick Mahomes shines, and puts the team on his back. Gonna be tough though, Chiefs are banged up, and it's a short week. But it's a short week for them too, and they have to travel.

The real NFL season has just begun fellas. Go Chiefs!

It's not as hard of a national sell as some people would like to think it is. The last time I was in KC and had a long and very thorough drive around, a great many things had changed since I had moved away in 2005. The downtown and the plaza were different and the City seemed poised for something of a "next level" breakthrough.
I'm speaking in terms of marketing and how it relates to the NFL. A lot of people make the pilgrimage to Green Bay and it's not like Wisconsin is the be all-end all place on God's earth either. In fact, I would say that KC as a whole has WAY more to offer. JMO. You just have to push the right buttons and promote the right things.
The only downside is that the stadium is currently located in a fairly decrepit part of town that I'm somewhat sure the JCSA and Hunt family didn't quite imagine turning in to what it currently is. If it were up to me, I'd raze the old airport and fire up the concrete trucks. A nice, new stadium down on the river and looking south at Downtown? You bet your ass. That's a hell of a shot from overhead, on the field, and a great many other angles.
And before y'all start getting pissy, you might want to remember that the current structure by and large hasn't given us shit for 40+ ****ing years in terms of being "the house of championships", just sayin'.

Whatever.

Those talking heads get their daily opinions from the shows producers...who in turn, get their narratives straight from NFL corporate. They go through it in morning pre-production meetings.

It's nice little fascist network they've created....to steer "hearts and minds".

Why wouldn't they use a nationally televised game to drum up hype for a team that cant even fill a 30,000 seat stadium? The lack of interest in the Chargers has NFL corporate in a ruff situation...they are a 10-3 (loosely) team and nobody in LA cares.

You can only generate so much fake hype...the public either buys it or they dont.

Matt Derrick said that the social media team doesn’t post anything without solid info/approval from the team. I’m guessing Mark Donovan passes that info along.

History of the rivalry... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charge...Chiefs_rivalry

Chiefs have won 9 straight - impressive. 11/24/2013 was the last time the Chargers won @ KC and that was a 41-38 win.

In 3 of the last 4 games, Chargers have scored 13 or fewer ... twice a TD or less. No ground game to speak of really with the Chargers this week, so it's going to have to be all Rivers if they have a chance.

Rivers was big time earlier this year, over 400 yards with 3 TDs and 1 INT in the loss.

In 2017, Rivers combined for about 500 yards with 1 TD and 6 INTs in two games vs KC.

In 2016, Rivers combined for another 500 yards with 3 TDs and 2 INTs.

What happened in 2018? A nearly 200 combined yards from 2 RBs that are hurt right now... they barely cracked 100 yards rushing in either 2017 game, and in 2016, they did better, but it wasn't enough.

Zero ground game support will not be good for the Chargers as Rivers will do what he does in grand fashion and that's find a way to lose a close game... if it stays close.

Chargers have 10 wins: Bills, 49ers, Raiders X2, Browns, Titans, Seahawks, Cardinals, Steelers and Bengals

Not a whole lot of scary there and I still can't believe they won @ SEA.

KC should never be in doubt with this one.
