Nice story George. I lost my Dad in 2002. He was 81. You're right, if they're still around, dote on them, and treat them like the treasure they are.
Like you, my Dad and I shared a special bond with our love of the Chiefs and Royals, much more so than my other siblings. I really miss that, but I've made up for it with sharing that love with both of my boys.

Great photo GBlowfish and I am deeply honored to have sat in your Dad's seat at Arrowhead!
He is a good looking guy so I have no idea where you got your looks from!

Good story George. They don't make them like that anymore. He'd have been about my grandpas age and he was a special one. Him and my dad both paved the way for what I'm able to do today.
I'll go harass dad today. Thanks for he perspective reminder. |

He was a multi time Ban Johnson All Star shortstop here in KC. Got an invitation to St. Louis Cardinals spring training, then a week later got drafted for Korea.
Was in the 24th Infantry. Was sent in a week before the Chinese got into the war. Came out with three stripes. Married his best friend's sister (my mom), worked as a union printer for 50 plus years. Got Chiefs season tickets in 1966. We've had them every year since. He told me when I chose to go to Mizzou it was the happiest I'd ever made him. My sister went to KU just to piss him off. I was the first boy in our family to ever graduate from college. He was a deacon in the church for 40 years. Liked to fish, liked John Wayne movies, especially westerns. Didn't drink or smoke. Loved ice cream. He was a great guy. Never heard anyone say a bad word about him, except my mom. That's another story. She's a hard case. |

Sorry to hear about your Dad. My parents are up there in age as well. It's getting really rough with their health.
