Arizona Court Orders Christian Store Owners to Make Gay Wedding Invitations

PHOENIX (AP) — An Arizona appeals court on Thursday upheld a Phoenix anti-discrimination law that makes it illegal for businesses to refuse service to same-sex couples because of religion.

The ruling comes days after the U.S. Supreme Court sided with a Colorado baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple. The high court found Monday that a Colorado civil rights commission showed anti-religious bias when it ruled against Jack Phillips for refusing to make the cake at his Masterpiece Cakeshop.

The decision, however, did not address the larger issue of whether a business can invoke religious objections to refuse service to gay and lesbian people.

In the Arizona case, the state Court of Appeals sided with the city in a lawsuit first brought in 2016 by a wedding invitation business, saying the ordinance is constitutional and does not violate freedom of religion or speech....more...

The fact that two supreme court justices actually voted NO to this is somewhat terrifying.

This is like the stereotypical toltalitarian bullshit argument where the rights of society override your rights as an individual thus you can be forcibly made to work on behalf of segments of society...And two supreme court justices want this.

The US is going to look like a completely different country in the next 30 years if these progressive toltalitarian psychopaths weasel their way through local, state and federal governments.

Nailed it.

I remember when they said all they wanted was marriage.

Obviously, that was a ploy.

I wonder if a Evangelical float would be allowed in a Gay Pride parade?

How so? I'd think that if there were a bunch of homosexual christians that wanted to have a float in a pride parade that they'd be allowed. That would be very interesting. Would it be more of a clash than a few years ago when an atheist group wanted one in the St. Patty's Day Parade in KC? I remember when they threw a fit because their permit was denied for what started as a Catholic event

Yeah, but I didn't specify homosexual Christians. How 'bout an Evangelical or Christian group with a float carrying that line in the Bible about homosexual sex? Or that it's a sin? That's a message none of them, gay Christian or not would support. Afterall, we're talking about creating messages some don't agree based on religious beliefs aren't we?

As far as I am concerned the corollary to free speech ( writing included) is not to speak including refusing to speak.

I have no problem with those who just live their lives. But when they start beating me over the head with their agenda, I take issue.

I know.

I don't believe who I'm attracted to is much of a choice. Who I bump uglies with, sure. But I haven't had much control over spontaneous bouts of love or lust.

So it's beyond unfair to me that we would punish each other for a thought or a feeling. Like, beyond.

You don't have to attend the wedding. You don't have to endorse the wedding. But I'd give you all the guns in the world if people would just leave people be.

You make the cake. Sneeze in it if you have to.
