New KCI terminal wins in a landslide

Surprised by how overwhelmingly this vote was for in favor. wow

Quote:
After years of waiting, in a historic vote, a new Kansas City International Airport has finally been approved.

Voters turned out at the polls Tuesday and voted overwhelmingly to approve the construction of a new single-terminal KCI.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the night was the vote spread in Clay County.

Clay County voters are among the most skeptical in the area. With 100 percent of Clay County Precincts reporting, yes votes took the issue in the county 71 percent to 29 percent against.

Numbers were similar in Platte County with 74 percent of voters in favor, and 26 percent against.

True but you know when locals talk about KCI being convenient we are talking about getting in and out pretty quickly. That is a big deal and one thing I hope whoever designs and builds the new terminal keeps in mind

No more being at the curb 3 minutes after getting off the plane...but maybe now we'll get an Auntie Annie Pretzels!

Wait in security will now be an hour an or so, but now there might be a high-end shoe store or sunglasses shop available!

Awesome!

Enjoy your new airport or don't.

If Storm Front DC on Chiefs Planet is so against it you can tell it is probably a pretty good idea.

Awesome job to KC voters for seeing this issue so clearly and not letting naysayers boring vision of doom scare you.

More direct flights would be an actual, useful, potential benefit...but how does a new airport directly lead to that?

The current terminals aren't at capacity, are they? Additional flights/routes/airlines could be accomodated as-is.

Based on the early plans for the new terminal and my experiences at other airports with newer terminals, including my primary airport, Sacramento International, which tops the
2017 JD Power Airport Satisfaction Survey, I believe Kansas Citians will love their new terminal.

True, obviously. But I've never had a wait at KCI, even at holidays, come close to what is usual anytime at other places.

But there aren't enough places for me to drink $10 pints in an airport where no one makes connections anyway!
