Something like the Rural Electrification Act of 1936, which provided federal loans to electrical cooperatives to expand electricity into rural areas because the market was failing to do so.

Yeah, something like that.

Or we could just mindless scream about bad government, good company. That's totally accurate.
I don't care that they are under served. It's not the governments responsibility to rush in and save me. I have every option to move to an area that has more internet options. Some of you folks just truly don't understand the mindset of most rural folk. We don't want big brother!!! Even when it benefits us like now. WE DON'T WANT IT!!!

Anybody that does want it is free to move to the city. Little minor things like this are the biggest reason this nation has a debt problem. They try to fix Johnny's problems, then they try to fix Sally's problems, then poor little illegal Hector's, then before you know it, crap has spun outta control.

It's gonna be what it is, I'm just saying my piece

Is that the same Coop that operates around California, MO?

I'm about 20 miles north of the Lake and I am pissed that I'm that close to Fiber but will never get it unless 3 rivers get their shit together.

This isn't the government saving you or being big brother. Stop being such a simple minded idiot.

This is the government preforming a governmental service where the free market cannot.

The rural electricity you have, is because of the government.

So you are telling me I don't have the option to move AND I don't have the right to be pissed. I just need to sit down and shut up so to speak

You truly are a progressive, telling me what to think and how to feel

No, I'm telling you to stop acting like a simple-minded child who only sees government bad/company good and look at historical examples where the government successfully brought infrastructure into undeserved communities where the market refused to do so.

Your "concerns" are childish, ignore reality, and hold back progress in the United States.

Actually, only in the rural areas, which is all I truly care about. But, I have said my piece, and you yours. Enjoy your day

You’re free to move to even more rural areas or countries that don’t have Internet.

The some 60% of rural Missourians who cannot get access to Broadband probably sees it a tad different.

I know you will go off on everyone has access if they do Satellite/Hughes net. Or they can get it on a cell phone. And you are at best disingenuous with that argument. The cost hurdles are one thing and the performance is another.

We have hospitals and Docs who cannot use and access the latest in HC technology because patients cannot get BB.

And schools may or may not have it and certainly a huge number of school children have no access at home.

Your post reminds me of Scrooge. Are there no prisons? And the work houses, are they still in order?

It's not that. It's that you don't seem to understand that most EOs are perfectly legitimate exercises of executive power. The only reason to object to an EO is if it exceeds the President's executive power. If you don't know what this EO does, you can't know whether it's legit or objectionable and you can't know how it compares to any of Obama's EOs.

Blindly complaining about EOs isn't any better if you blindly criticize EOs from both parties. The first step is to understand what the EO does and whether or not the President had appropriate authority for it. In this case, the President is just ordering his executive departments to streamline some of their procedures to make it easier to expand broadband. I doubt that the President lacks authority to do this, although I haven't researched all the details. This isn't a case of the President legislating, this is a case of the President executing.
