Drive by shooting in Brookside
Jesus. Now even the nice neighborhoods are getting shot up.

A man in his late 30s was sitting on his front porch in Brookside on Wednesday morning when he was shot to death, Kansas City police said.

Just after 8 a.m. police were summoned to the 200 block of West 66th Terrace, which is just east of Brookside and Wornall roads, on a shooting.

“It appears that our victim was sitting on his front porch of his residence when he was shot. The victim’s spouse heard something and came out and discovered her spouse on the ground,” said police spokeswoman Sgt. Kari Thompson.

Investigators are searching the area but have very limited suspect information. The shooting is not believed to have been random.

Police said they were looking for a white 1997 Chevrolet van with Missouri license 6FA 453. Anyone who sees the van is asked to call 911. Police warned people not to approach the van if they see it.

Police are speaking with the victim’s spouse to determine what happened. A car was heard speeding away immediately after the shooting. Investigators are also trying to determine if the victim had just walked his children to school prior to the shooting.

Police are canvassing the neighborhood.

“We’re hoping to get to the bottom of this and solve this case as we hope to solve every case,” Thompson said. “We need help. We can’t solve this alone.”

The death one of three homicides reported in Kansas City in the past 24 hours.

My sympathies to his wife, children, and family. It's never fair to lose someone but losing them to a violent crime is so much harder. May the lord be with them as they morn and as they recover.

It's amazing that this crime in Brookside brings out the "How can it happen here" comments. 20 years ago an Atty friend of mine was getting broken into on Ward Parkway so often that he had to turn his alarm service off. There were and I am sure some fine lines in that area as Pickert knew since he shows an address on 48th and Lydia? I owned a business just east of Brookside and it was rough way back then.

I don't wish what happened to Pickert on anyone but this is not a random shooting. This shooting has motive. It will be interesting to watch what the neighborhood does as it will certainly loose some residents to Kansas, Lee's Summit and north of the river.

Pickert and Fowler appear to be in a co- counsel or have some other agreement with an Atty: JOHN R. CAMPBELL, JR, who used to share office space along with many others including Pickert's firm.

Ask her is she remembers anything about the Fab 4? That will tell me how long shes been around,

I'll be honest, if I was 79 and you tried to take away everything I had earned in life because a couple of thugs worked the legal system after I defended myself....yeah I'd probably take matters into my own hands, too.

I wonder where Jungerman is now. I bet he fled to an underground safe house he's been building up in the Arkansas hills for years, if not decades.

There maybe an employee that was told that his job was over due to the judgment... Why have they released that it was a MAN but not a white man or gray haired man. Really, look for a van but no description of driver "MAN"

Are they trying to locate Jungerman but can't? He has property in Holden, Near Higginsville, and Rich Hill 6,800 acres

Why does a guy use his own van to commit a murder that he knows he will be a suspect of.

I guess. But he's 79, so he'd be dead in like the next six minutes anyhow. They're gonna find gramps with his top blown off in his van somewhere. He satisfied his blood-lust at least.
