Official 2012-2013 NBA Thread

Looks like James Harden has been To the Rockets for Jeremey Lamb, Kevin Martin and future picks. Plus... this is a general NBA thread.

The Western Conference playoffs should be great this season. Might even top the great game of last year. But agreed the East is barren.

I don't see anybody overtaking Miami this year again. Who is gonna beat them four times in a series? I don't see it.

Just looking at a few stats and I think it's time for my semi-regular James Harden update.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/...3_leaders.html

His win share total of 12.2 this season is third in the NBA behind LeBron (17.3) and Durant (16.3).

His win share per 48 minute rate is .225, good for 5th in the NBA behind LeBron, Paul, Durant, and Parker. It's also quite close to his rate of .230 from last year, which is an incredible accomplishment considering how different and more significant his role with the Rockets is. Normally you'd expect a player's productivity to go down with a higher usage rate, but that hasn't occurred with Harden at all.

He also now has the Rockets at 39-31 in a very tough Western conference with little help from his teammates at all (the very mediocre Lin and Parsons are the best secondary players). Barring some kind of collapse, they'll make the playoffs, which very few saw coming at the beginning of the season.

It's becoming increasingly clear that Harden is one of the top 10 players in the NBA and possibly even better than that as he's embedding himself within the tier of great players after LeBron and Durant. He's one of a very few impactful guys that can completely take over a game and he's seemingly only getting better. I don't want to restart that debate about whether the Thunder should have paid him/shouldn't have traded him (because there's only one real answer to that one, they should have done everything in their power to keep him, which they didn't). But this guy is doing things that even his biggest believers didn't think possible. Pretty awesome season.

Yeah he's doing awesome. I honestly thought he might flop as the main guy on a team. He's proven me wrong.

I thought he'd be very good. Few guys in the NBA have his ability and offensive skills. But this kind of production is pretty ridiculous. It reminds me pretty closely of what Tracy McGrady did after the Raptors traded him to Orlando, but even better.

Much needed win over the Lakers for the Warriors last night, even though the refs started calling some ticky tack fouls to get the Lakers back in the game.

The Heat are in trouble against the Bulls. 4 minutes to go... down by 9. LeBron was just called for a flagrant foul trying to plow Boozer on a screen. He's obviously frustrated... the Bulls have been beating on him all night. Let's see how the Heat get out of this one.

Hinrich just destroyed Bosh. Holy crap. Bosh had the ball and Hinrich just ripped it away from him and threw him to the ground. Bulls up 9 with 2 minutes to go.

It was hilarious. Too bad they didn't show a replay of it though. Bosh was destroyed by Butler on an alley oop earlier in the game too.

Falling behind every game was eventually going to bite them in the ass. Thibodeau is just an unbelievable coach.
