*.* 2013 General Fitness Thread *.*

Welcome to 2013! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

**From the 2012 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

The bad news is: I'm struggling w/ my sleep - I gave up sugar this week, and I'm wondering if that contributed.

Also - Since I've been eating normally and not gut bombs, I've been pooping like a dream.

Heh. I was going to come into this thread this morning and try to bring your two arguments together and show the commonality, but it's already done.

I think, though, that you're both pointing to two aspects of the whole calories in vs. calories out argument:

1) Calories in vs. Calories spent is the absolute bottom line with regards to weight loss. Eat fewer calories. Do more work. You'll lose weight.
2) Certain foods make this easier because they provide more "bang for the caloric buck," thus curbing appetite longer.

So, no, technically food choices don't matter if you're counting calories. But eating your BMR of calories in hershey kisses every day is going to leave you feeling constantly hungry.

I also know that you all are aware of this already, but I thought I'd try to outline where the two angles you were both approaching this from intersect.

I chose #2! I increase the quality of my calories. 294 to 223 and holding....but Now I am back on the horse and aiming for 194.....Starts Monday, I like target dates.

Usually 36 hours. Sometimes 18 if I feel like eating dinner.

I have a huge ass park by my house and really need to start doing some cardio. I rarely do any form of cardio....ever. I hate doing steady state cardio more than I hate diet soda. The 5/3/1 program I run for weights suggests hills (I have never incorporated them) but I have no hills that are close so that is not an option. I wouldn't mind doing sprint work or something else in the park, any suggestions?

I have to say fellows - I didn't work out today - & there's a good reason - I felt really sickly - so I headed out and bought a much needed new Macy's Tufted Leather lounge chair and about 7 clothing items.

However I hit this super nice health and wellness store.

These people carried Chuice, Blk Water and all the biochem whey line - actually I bought this stuff called Protein Ice - in Apple - he said it was super clean. The Alkaline non filtered water is solid - it helps w/ body acid balance, supposedly. I'm buying into it.

Additionally I went to Tony and Guy and bought this super cool 'wet look' hair gel. I've got a fantastic hair cut currently.
