Nolan's Batman 3 Title

Batman sequel 'Rises' again

LOS ANGELES - THE next Batman sequel has a title: The Dark Knight Rises. Distributor Warner Bros. confirmed the name for director Christopher Nolan's third adventure about the DC Comics vigilante hero, which follows Batman Begins in 2005 and The Dark Knight in 2008.

The Dark Knight Rises is due in theaters July 20, 2012. Bucking Hollywood's current wave of 3-D movies, Nolan is not planning to shoot the film in 3-D.

Warner Bros had agreed with Nolan's argument that the sequel should resist the 3-D craze, the director told the Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex blog, which first reported the title.

Nolan would not reveal what villain might appear in The Dark Knight Rises, but he said it would not be the Riddler, one of the key bad guys in the comics and past film and TV Batman tales.

Earlier this year, Nolan said he would not resurrect the Joker, the cackling villain played by Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. Ledger won the supporting-actor Academy Award for the role, a year after he died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. -- AP

You're just tolling right?

Nicholson is amazing, no one can argue that, his career has been legendary. However, Nolan's Batman movies to date have been far superior when compared to the old ones, as in not even a close competition, and Ledger's Joker was actually the better Joker.

Nicholson's Joker was the more old campy style, but Ledger's is the new darker version of the comic, same with the rest of Nolan's Batman characters. It's a little rawer, a little grittier, there aren’t idiots in glow 'n the dark neon face paint FFS!

Nicholson sucks donkey balls. His overacting as the Joker is so ****ing over-the-top it's hilarious. He's even worse than Cesar Romero in the 60s series.

I'm not a "Nolan fanbois" and, if I were, it would have nothing to do with "Twilight" or being an "emo bitch". The mere fact that you're comparing Nolan's work to "Twilight" just shows the absolute idiocy and reerunation that hangs between your ears. If you want to debate Nicholson vs. Ledger, that's intelligent, but with this post you've immediately shown you're not even worth debating the issue because you're a ****ing moron.

You talk about "Nolan fanbois", but with this overemotional post it's clear that you've not only got Nicholson's dick in your mouth but you've got Burton's dick up your ass. Enjoy being Finger Cuffs and come back when you can appreciate serious, gritty filmwork, and not something made for 12-year-olds. I loved Burton's "Batman" when I first saw it. I also loved Sid and Marty Krofft's shows when I was 7; it doesn't mean they were any good when viewed through adult eyes.

Seeing as how you're 12, you obviously can't appreciate the dark days when directors couldn't program their visual effects into a computer, and had to use things like real sets or miniatures. It was a different time. I am supposed to hate Casablanca now because the plane looks fake? **** you.

I think both both Burton movies are better than Dark Knight. In fact, I've upgraded both of them to blu-ray recently. And I really don't give a shit what you think about it.

EDIT - I misread who posted this, thought it was that douchetard JD. Please disregard the nastiness of reply - wasn't aimed at you.

I guess the good thing about sucking off Ledger is that now he'll always be stiff!

And I may have to consult a dictionary, but I'm pretty sure the definition of "gritty" isn't convoluted, overhyped bullshit.

Pretty much right on with the exception of Nicholson sucking donkey balls. He's definitely overrated and overhyped, but he's not a bad actor.

I didnt like the film all that much when i first saw it back in 1989. Ive always thought it was average or bad.

That was one of the first movies i remember where it was more about marketing and hype than the actual movie itself.

Her part was not only dumb and campy, the idea of that skinny-ass blonde bitch kicking ass was just hilarious. It was even harder to fathom than Michael Keaton as a buff badass. I'll tell you, the Burton films are not holding up well over time. I watched the original "Batman" not too long ago (Keaton/Nicholson) and found the film reerunedly stupid, with awful plotting and dialogue, unbelievable actions, ridiculous overacting, etc.,. Sure, the film had an interesting style to it, but so did "Dick Tracy", which got pounded in the press and frankly wasn't much different from "Batman" aesthetically. We all thought the Burton "Batman"s were so cool and serious compared to the campy 60's Adam West stuff but, in truth, Burton's version is just a different version of campy (especially when compared to the grittiness of Nolan's works).

I'm going to have to rewatch those Batman movies. I honestly thought they were intended to be more "Ha ha funny" type of Batman movies.

Duuude.... I'll at least respect your opinion on TDK even though I think it's entirely misguided, but seriously? Batman Returns was only slightly less horrific than Batman Forever. That movie was not good.
