This is kind of nice, just for the fact that when I tell people from out of town to try it I don't have to explain that it is KC BBQ, and that the name came from the smoker that they used, blah, blah, blah...

don't get the rebrand - I assume it has to do with the restaurant in OK with the same name being bad for their image.

New name sucks though.

That place in Oklahoma has nothing to do with it.

They just don't have any connection to Oklahoma anymore. They're 100% Kansas City and they wanted the name to reflect that.

EDIT: If you read the story, the place in Oklahoma has actually been closed for quite some time. Their partner sold the smoker company in 1997. Pretty sure he sold it to Horizon. I have a Horizon smoker and it's built exactly like the old Oklahoma Joe's smokers.
