Donald Trump just made it legal to shoot and kill hibernating bears in Alaska.

Hunters can also now use aircraft to track and shoot the bears, after the Obama-era wildlife protection laws were repealed by the current administration.

Under the previous law introduced by Barack Obama, it was illegal for hunters to use aggressive tactics.

These included trapping wolves while they were at their dens with cubs, tracking bears with aircraft, killing bears that were hibernating, luring bears with food to kill them at point-blank range, or trapping bears with wire snares.

Trump raises the limits on predators, snowflakes upset. Obama raises limit of allowable bald eagle deaths by wind turbines, snowflakes don't care.

Makes sense.

****ing libs. If they don't like it, should against the law. If they like it, we should all be required by law to do it.

I personally don't like killing anything other than spiders, but I respect the right of those that enjoy and need to hunt.

This is Trump doing what he committed to. Remove, take away Federal Govt overreach and give it back to the states. No one is better at hunting and trapping regulations and quota than the Alaska Fish and Game.

I applaud this move 100% and I am not in favor of putting a species in jeopardy. I just trust that the Alaska Govt has better knowledge and Fish and Game have better ability to manage population numbers.

Before you trash this move, read up on Alaska hunting and trapping regulations....and I bet it will put you at ease.

The next thing I hope Trump does is to dial back all the Wilderness designation that Obama put in place. In most cases, he did it, going against State Law Makers and the locals that live there everyday.

This wasn't a case of the state stepping in. It was the other way around. This was the fed stepping in and promulgating a new rule, against the wishes of the state, and the rule didn't go into effect until September 2016. Congress and Trump just eliminated the rule via the Congressional Review Act.

Yeah, I didn't mean stepping in in that sense. I meant stepping in as in allowing more aggressive hunting methods to try and cull predator populations.

Call me a triggered snowflake or whatever but I just don't see the need to hunt animals down in their dens and slaughtering litters of cubs. It seems so over the top.

Do we have any Alaskans here in DC? I'd like to hear their opinion on whether or not bears and wolves are really such a nuisance.

A Salt Weapon, who posted earlier in the thread, is from Alaska, I think.

Agree completely. This should be managed by the states.

Oaklandhater's daily "trump is causing the apocalypse" threads are getting pretty tired.

Personally when I have a wasp problem I go to the nest. Makes no sense in running around trying to exterminate one by one when I can take care of many more in one fell swoop...if my objective is to actually address a problem.

Much better to wait until the parents have left the young'uns alone and unprotected, and then just kill the parents. Starvation, or death by other predator, for the kids is so much more kind.
