PFT Interview: Maclin learned of release by voicemail from Dorsey

You can tell he lost all respect for Dorsey with his tone. Kind of a shitty way to do it, but it is what it is.

I see. I was unaware that you could designate someone a June 1 cut early. Does the team still carry a players cap number until June 1 and can that player immediately start looking for and sign a new deal? Either way it does make it look a little shittier, but maybe they were unsure up until after seeing him work during the OTA's.

Rationalize it how you want but firing someone from a voicemail sounds unprofessional and is a shitty thing to do.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Maclin have a rebound year, but honestly i think he's done, even if he does have a rebound year.

He had no fire last season. In '15 the dude was fighting with DB's every game. He played with swag and attitude.

'16 he had NO fire. He wasn't combative. He seemed to be going through the motions.

He got paid. Then he got married. I think the guy feels settled and accomplished. That's how you lose the fire.

I can understand why Maclin would be upset but he will get over it in time. I don't think it is as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. I think it is a little surprising that Reid didn't call or text him being as though they are friends. Maybe it was just too hard for Reid to do?

That said there's no right way to fire someone, it's never easy and in my experience no matter what way you do it the person getting fired is going to get pissed.
