Raiders Week R.I.P.

Edwards' coaching skills aside...I've begun to wonder whether Herm even likes the Chiefs (not just this team, but the Chiefs organization with the totality of its tradition and history), it's fans and the city. While I would be the first to admit that it wouldn't even matter if this team was winning, the question matters when you consider today's game. We lost to the freakin' Raiders...and a Raiders team that isn't that good...at HOME for God's sake!

While I can't prove such things, I've concluded that Herm does not love KC, nor does he appreciate the history and tradition of its fan base. We're just your garden-variety fans to Herm. Further, I sometimes think he even holds the fans in contempt. I'm waiting for the presser when Herm decides that we need to blow the fan base up. After all, the current fan base is old and worn out and isn't conducive to cheering for Herm's style of play. He should be allowed to build his own fan base, right?

Then...after consecutive losing seasons with Herm's newly formed fan base, I'm sure he'll want to blow up the city. After all, the city isn't conducive to producing the kinds of fans that fit the style of play Herm likes. And let's be honest...it's an old city. I'm sure coach Herm will turn it around if he could just be given a chance with a new city. He deserves his own city, right? We can't really judge him as a coach until he molds the city in his image first...right?

Ok...I don't want Marty back...but I'll say this for Marty. He seemed to instinctively understand the 13th man concept and he was instrumental in building a fan base off of a "culture" and attitude that he brought to the city. It was infectious....it was fun. It's amazing what some simple good-will towards the fans will do. People were FAR TOO loyal to Marty for too long. But that's a credit to Marty. For better or worse, he endeared himself to the fans of our city. And one more thing about Marty. Losing to the Raiders was an effin' sin. It was unacceptable. Raider week meant your nuts would be sawed off by a rusty, dull knife unless you expended every ounce of your effort and will toward humiliating the Raiders and Al Davis.

Today...it just felt like losing to the Raiders was just another loss to Herm. It didn't hurt him. Losing to the Raiders hurt Marty...our players...our fans. For most...today was just another loss. I don't recognize this franchise under the Herm regime. And such things matter...

Herm is a business like coach, he expects players to get pumped up themselves, because that is what he did. He is afraid that you might hurt moral if you try to make one game more important than another. Which basically covers his coaching scheme, afraid.

Have you noticed that he wears and NFL hat instead of a KC hat at his press conferences?

Ari,

I think you might be onto something here. It's perfect for him when you really stop and think about it (which should only take 50 seconds).

Dear God...is there ANY substantiated word on whether there's even a remote possibility of this?!?! I'll send Germ some NFL hats to wear around town if that's all it will take...
