Isn't there a FAS component to his (and his brother's) background?
That would certainly explain difficulty mastering an NFL offense. |

If the chatter is correct about him having trouble learning the play book in Tennessee, then I don't see how that will be easier going to Philly. Kid better spend 16 hours a day studying that thing.

True, Mr. 8 - 8 really could light a fire...too bad he's in LA these days...

Wasted talent. Easily could be top 10 WR.

Maybe.
But people have always overstated his explosiveness. He's a long-strider. Anyone that ever called him Calvin Johnson was off their nut. Do you think of Vincent Jackson as a top 10 WR? He may have been close to that at his peak, but probably never quite in that tier. That's probably DGB's ceiling. He's not agile at all; very still through his hips and in his turns. He didn't break down and explode in or out of his cuts very well. He's just a very long, pretty fast guy that used to be a good high point receiver and someone that would do a nice job of shielding off DBs on inside routes. But there are some physical tools that he lacks and if his hands are regressing, the reward to the high risk routes he would excel at starts to diminish quite a bit. Waste of talent, but he was never likely to be a truly elite guy.

Not sure WTF was going on down there, but he was 5th on the depth chart. Maybe the change of scenery will do him well, but I'm not sure he makes the roster in Philly. |

He must have been a real pain in the ass for them to wanna get rid of a 2nd rd pick (top 10 talent) after only 1 (somewhat productive) season give the fact he was a rookie and played without his starting QB for a quarter of the season, which is bad enough for a veteran WR to have to do that. One can assume that w/ Mariota for an extra 4 games, DGB could have easily racked up 250 more rec yrds and a couple TD's, to where you're looking at 800yds rec 6TD's for the season. Those aren't bad numbers for a rookie WR playing with a rookie QB all things considered.
From what I heard from equipment people on MU football staff and a couple players, he's not willing to work hard and the coaches don't like him because it pisses them off. I can't say that I'm surprised that TEN wanted to get rid of him, I can't seem to think it's because of something other than that. He wanted to be Randy Moss and run fly routes all game and he used to piss and moan whenever they actually made him run routes and block etc. In the NFL you have to do that kind of shit at that position whether you want to or not, and I bet he was pissing and moaning about doing that or something else he didn't feel like doing, and Titans traded his ass, Bye Felicia! Have fun playing in Shittydelphia!!

TN's 5th round WR pick (Tajae Sharpe), who was smaller in stature and lesser on talent, was putting in the time and taking reps with the 1st team. DGB simply would not put in the time to take the next step. And since he was a pick of the previous GM the current GM had little in the way of ties to DGB.

for a dude who is lazy and can't read a playbook 500 yards and 4 touchdowns is pretty impressive
compare that to our highly intelligent, very athletic training camp star WR from the same draft class that could barely muster up 200 yards and 1 touchdown. |
