Anyone ever done a body cleanse?

I've been told by my trainer that I need to do a five to seven day cleanse. Anyone have any experience with them?

What toxins? Why and how would "toxins" build up at all? Everybody throws that term around, but nobody that believes it seems to know WTF it even means. There's no scientific proof that any "toxins" remain in your body that aren't processed naturally, that would need any additional cleansing.

In biological terms, your body naturally rids itself of anything it needs to throughout the digestive process. There is no allowance for "toxin" buildup. Your body isn't like a trash can where you regularly have to scrape the gunk off the sides after it cakes on over time. Your body just doesn't work that way.

The whole "cleansing of toxins" is nothing but homeopathic bullshit to take your money. And there's tons of proof of this...

How many parasites did you count? Were they the little angry faced ones with octopus arms?

I don't really care to argue the point. I'm no expert on this subject. I'll just tell you that I had a pretty good experience with the cleanse that my trainer recommended to me. Maybe I have a sensitivity to Gluten and/or dairy or there's some other explanation, but I had good results.

I've been reading "Clean" by Alejandro Junger. It's a good read if you're really interested in the subject. I know several people at my gym who've experienced excellent results after taking some of the suggestions made in that book.

So you have no idea what it's supposed to treat, or how it's supposed to treat it, or why you would need to be treated for it. And despite all that, you're convinced that you had "Good results"? That doesn't make a lick of sense, if you don't know what it was supposed to do..

Doesn't your book explain anything? What has your reading revealed, since you're recommending it?

Well, I don't think I said any of that. I certainly didn't mean to. I said I had a good experience with the cleanse that my trainer recommended. The results were exactly what he said they'd be. As I also said, that could have more to do with me having a sensitivity to dairy or gluten than the "cleansing of toxins from my body." This is why, as Silock said, anecdotal evidence doesn't really mean much.

I haven't done any of the cleanses in the book. In fact, I'm only halfway through it. I was merely recommending it as an interesting read rather than referring to it as gospel. From your earlier post, I got the impression that you were interested in the subject & wanted to get an idea what the fuss was about. That's why I'm reading it. I think it's an interesting theory.

Finally, no, it doesn't bother me that scientists think it's a load of BS. I think a lot of it is a load of BS.
