Just Got Back from Arkansas

My mom's going into assisted living, had to go down and start packing up her house.

For my Arkansas Pals:

Had breakfast at Susan's in Springdale.

Saw the Arkansas Naturals Stadium. Wal Mart had bought it out for that night's game because it was their shareholder's convention week. Did you know the Naturals were almost called the "Thunder Chickens" instead?

Had a burger at Feltner's Whatta Burger in Russellville across from the Ark Tech Campus.

Got Abita beer from New Orleans and Cheerwine pop from North Carolina in the Hot Springs Kroger. BTW: Cheerwine is good. It's supposed to go national distributed by Pepsi in 2017.

Had tamales and pulled pork from McClard's in Hot Springs.

Watched a Dallas preacher on the Little Rock cable station promising that I would get a new house if I sent him $40 over the phone. He was huffing. And he faith healed a 400 lb black woman...and freed her of "da beetus."

It was beautiful.

That is all.

Park shut down sometime in the early 1990's I think. Haven't been that way in a long time -I come down I-49 now- but I think Dogpatch is long gone.
George.....part of the park is still standing I believe. I think I saw some pics somewhere in an article that showed some of the remnants that are still there.

As for drink there....it wasn't Mountain Dew....it was Kickapoo Joy Juice.

Springdale is a fairly nice town. Cheerwine is good. $40 to cure da beetus is a helluva deal.

I spent a weekend in Little Rock once. I've seriously never felt so attractive in my life. I'm pretty confident in saying that in Arkansas, I'm a solid 8.5.

I'm in Arkansas through Wednesday. Saw about 150 chicken houses from the plane on the way in. Fayetteville is a strange place in the summertime with the students gone. The streets are empty, the bars are quiet, and there are Bernie signs in all the shop windows, but you can't throw a rock without hitting a church.

Heh, American Pickers found a pair of Kickapoo Joy Juice floor displays at a Dr. Pepper bottler's warehouse in Waco. Had to two teenagers [L'il Abner and Daisy] holding up the signs.
