Shooting at Arrowhead- Chiefs player commits suicide

No details yet. Just came across on the news.

edit: Sources say the player is Jovan Belcher. Police have yet to confirm.

An unnamed Kansas City Chiefs player has committed suicide at the team facility and authorities are on the scene, the police confirmed to ESPN on Saturday morning.

Local reports say police are operating with the belief the player fatally shot his girlfriend at a house before driving to Arrowhead Stadium and killing himself at around 8 a.m local time. The Associated Press reported the player's age to be 25.

"We can confirm that there was an incident at Arrowhead earlier this morning," the Chiefs said in a statement. "We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation."

There were no other injuries at the team facility, police said.

The Chiefs (1-10) were preparing to host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

The NFL has told the Panthers to travel as planned to Kansas City on Saturday, the Charlotte Observer has reported, citing interim general manager Brandon Beane.

You're right.

ESPN signed an deal with the NFL that pays them $1.9 billion per year to broadcast 16 NFL games on Monday night per year.

But, the contract allows the NFL to schedule any game opposite MNF on any network of their choosing, for whatever reason.

****ing reerun.

You've seen the contract then?

Did the previous contract allow the NFL the freedom to schedule other games on Monday under any circumstances? Or is possible that the NFL negotiated that arrangement with ESPN like business do every friggen day?

I'm sure you've seen all the relevant documents because you're a big deal in the business world! Aren't you due to tell us about your finances again??

So, you actually believe that ESPN is paying $2 BILLION per year for non-exclusive rights?

You're dumber than I've ever imagined.

Is K-State going to the Fiesta Bowl? You only have to schedule around the viewership of KC and Carolina fan base. So pick another night that week where neither K-State nor South Carolina aren't playing.

Of course they have exclusive rights. They presumably had them in 2010 also, but the NFL worked it out through some form of negotiation, given the extenuating circumstances. Businesses negotiate amendments or exceptions to contracts all the time. You'd know this, as you're an awesome businessman with expertise in all business.

I am also unsurprised that they aren't moving the game due to the murder, however.

I'd like to have seen the game postponed until Jan 3rd. It's a Thursday night, after the regular season is scheduled to end. Right before Wildcard Weekend.

You can put it on NFL network, making it a national game and collecting more money than if it were just two local markets. It doesn't displace any other network scheduling. The NFL could share that revenue with whatever network was set to run the game. It doesn't split the MNF viewership.

And the city and the players can focus on healing or moving forward or being with family or resting or whatever they need most for the next few days.

As far as I can see, problem solved.
