Worst BBQ restaurant you've ever ate at?

Went to a place call A Little BBQ Joint in Independence today. Sign outside said Burnt Ends soon to be world famous, so I go in and get the burnt ends, BBQ beans, and Cole slaw. Sides weren't terrible, but the burnt ends taste like they had beef jerky rub, were fairly tough and the saltiest thing I've ever eaten. I'm not a picky eater and I could barely finish the burnt ends.

So, what's the worst place you've had BBQ?

Ha ha - I had to look it up. Yeah this place is horrible. I felt bad because I took my girlfriend there (we were in the area and pressed for time) and this was her first KC brisket - dry and flavorless. I didn't have the heart to tell her how bad it was. She's had better BBQ since.

Lol at 4.5 stars on Yelp. No way that wasn't gamed somehow.

Rosedale's ribs are ****ing awesome - as are the fries and cheesy cornbake thing. I don't think I've ever tried anything else there. And I don't even like the sweet sauce that much. Also RC Cola!

Yeah, I'll admit they've got some consistency issues. I've had excellent meals there and very poor meals there. But when they're good....they're really good.

I'm also a fan of their sauce.

We've had some of our worst restaurant experiences in touristy areas. I suppose since they know you'll never be back there's no incentive to do anything worth a shit.

I live in Fort Worth, Texas.

I don't know why you guys back home have allowed Dickeys to exist in the KC area. You need to run that crap out of town. It's the McDonald's of BBQ, but far, far shittier. The only thing worse than Dickeys is Spring Creek BBQ, another chain here, and it makes the baby Jesus cry.

I go to the Red Hot and Blue franchise locally to eat Memphis style BBQ because at least it isn't coated in the thin jalapeno sugar-water they flavor "barbecue" with here.

If there's "bad" BBQ in KC, it's that Dickeys. It's not possible for KC style BBQ to be that bad.

Dickey's is comparable to Famous Daves. Ok chain Q but nothing to go out of your way for. They do have really good sides though.

No clue. I've been to several places. Had anyone been to sugar foot in Osceola? People around here rave about it but the food is pretty terrible and I think they cook the food in a crock pot lol

They smoke their meat or at least I think they do. They took over an old Sonic and they had a smoker where the trash dumpster used to be.

The best thing they make though is their fried chicken. It is pretty damn good other than that it is mostly shit.

Funny to see that name pop up. I've never eaten there, but my first interaction with a Planeteer was related to Perry Fosters.

A loooong time ago, even before the KC Star board was around, I used to hang out on an ESPN NFL board. This was probably in the early-mid '90s. I got to talking to a guy named MILLERTIME that found out I was in the KC area. He asked if I was ever in Warrensburg to pick him up some Perry Fosters sauce and ship it to him. I never made it to Warrensburg to get him the sauce, never really had a reason to go to Warrensburg anyway.

Years later I found out that the guy I had been talking to was none other than our friend Bwana.
