Who thought we'd SUCK this year? Claim your Crow.

I thought we'd win maybe 5 games. Actually, I think I officially predicted 4-12.
  1. What were your expectations?
  2. What are your thoughts of Dorsey as a GM now?
  3. What are your thoughts on Reid as HC?

Claim your crow, if so. I was wrong. Were you?

If we win the next two games I see us finishing 12-4 and winning the AFC West

I thought we'd finish 7-9

10-6 I think I predicted.

After week 1 I was pretty concerned. Haven't been since.

I think Reid hosed us out of 2 wins in Denver and SF so we could truly be 9-1 right now with a few different coaching decisions.

That is a poor choice of a question, no offense.

Its just vague and semi meaningless.

I never 'didn't like' alex smith....I thought he was a nice guy and all that..super smart....and a decent game manager etc etc

I simply didn't want him as our QB.

There's a difference.

See , youre falling into the trap that so many on CP get into of black and white thinking...You have to either suck alex smiths balls super gently and cup them, or you with-hold sex and make him a cuckold while you fantasize about other QB's...

Ive been fairly consistent about my take on smith, and honestly it hasn't changed that much.

I wouldve rather gone a different route.....I didn't like the decision to trade 2 fairly decent picks for him, because I personally didn't think it would lead to playoff victories in the long run.

Now, I might be wrong...but for a completely different reason than you or me thought....

I could be flat out wrong, and alex smith might get us several convincing playoff wins in the next few years...In that case...I will have to say YES, I am 100% wrong and glad we got the guy on our team.

But heres a more interesting scenario:

This team is young, maybe we get to the playoffs and lose but we get some much needed experience....and the team starts gelling and building chemistry. In the next offseason or 2 we snag a young QB prospect who can learn and take over when alex's time is up..

I see this team as one that is building for the long term....

I don't see alex smith as the 'end game' piece of this puzzle. Honestly he still seems like more of a limiting factor ...a kind of throttle governor ....

He's a great game manager...and if we keep having this style of team where all we NEED is a game manager then I am fine with alex smith....

Do I 'like' smith any better now?

Not really......its not like he is anything different than most thought he was.

Its just that the team is doing so much better than anyone ever dreamed (except for you and the others who KNEW that this team was playoff bound) that you get alot of people who are black and white.

Trust me, the moment we lose a couple games or get bounced from the playoffs...tons of people will flip flop BACK to ..."omg alex is HORRIBLE and terrible etc..."

But thats never where I was...and not where I will be if we lose games....

I will still be in the 'Hes the best option, and a good game manager....but he's just not my cup of tea..'

I am highly thankful we have gotten to the point where the QB position is solid enough where we don't lose to decent teams.

But I am going to wait and see how the DEN, SD and any playoff games shake out before I 'flip flop' my opinion.

SOrry for the long answer but your question was not an easy yes or no, based on the wording.

I like the guy's personality, smarts and what he brings to the style of football he plays.....its just not what I would roll with as a franchise QB.

But hey thats why I am not in the NFL working anywhere. I am more than willing to admit I was wrong about this team based on week 1 and 2 and the free agent losses....

I don't think alex has it in him to win when the going gets rough...like if the run game/ short passing is shut down...but thats what the playoff run will show us.

I hope I am wrong. I know that I would be happier than you if KC wins a playoff game.....100%.

I'm a chiefs fan for life!

Fair enough. It was more a friendly jab. Your answer was extremely fair, and I agree with your assessment of what alex is to this offense.

I'm not bumping this as a gotcha. But good teams, teams that can win a title don't lose this game. This game probably cost us the playoffs.

Mav, Mav, Mav. It's just what the Chiefs are for the last 20+ years. Afraid. Willing and unafraid to draft a Left T 1/1, but unwilling to dare take a QB in that spot. And on and on and on...

Welcome to Chuefs fandom.
