I've got a desk job too. It's pretty awesome being able to follow the Royals GDTs at work. You guys make it easy!

Not sure what you're saying.

2.25 defensive runs saved a game seems like it would lead to more than 1.8 wins over the course of a season.

But it seems like a big number for 7 games, though not incredibly big.

That's just sick.

I would think that adding 2.25 additional runs a game would lead to more than 1.8 additional wins in 7 games for an average team. I guess an average team would be expected to go from winning 3.5 wins to 5.3 wins over a seven game stretch.

I'm a big believer in waiting until 30 games have been played:

Quote:
I think we've found the magic threshold. Here are the 11 teams that started 23-7 or better:

1939 New York Yankees: Won World Series

1946 Boston Red Sox: Won AL Pennant

1952 Brooklyn Dodgers: Won NL Pennant

1955 Brooklyn Dodgers: Won World Series

1977 LA Dodgers: Won NL Pennant

1984 Detroit Tigers: Won World Series

1988 Oakland A's: Won AL Pennant

1990 Cincinnati Reds: Won World Series

1993 Philadelphia Phillies: Won NL Pennant

1998 New York Yankees: Won World Series

Not at all. Take an 81-81 team. Give that team an extra 2.25 runs per game, and they win 123 games a year at that rate...which is an incredible number. It just sounds low when framing it as 1.8 over 7 games.

Well, if you had average defense and an average team, in 7 games you'd be expected to win 3 or 4 of them. So for 3 or 4 of them you go from winning to winning by a few more runs. 1 or 2 games maybe you got blown out so you go from losing to barely losing.

That 23-7 statistic is pretty damn impressive.

I'm just excited that we'll likely see the K have great crowds for the foreseeable future with this kind of performance.

There's no reason Kansas City can't be like St. Louis when it comes to support of it's baseball team. Especially now that we've passed that city in population numbers (metro) and, you know, are just better overall.

Yeah, but we still have a football team. (They're still way larger population wise, though.)
