So we trade Eric Berry, then we are left with the following:
Parker-1 year wonder? Abdullah-1 year left on contract. Commings-always hurt. Coleman-good with run support. Not quite there with pass pro. McCray-fodder IMO. You would think they would add someone in the first 4 rounds to add valuable depth. If one of Poe, Bailey, Houston or Ford get hurt, that could really expose us.

You know what's nice about all this Cobb talk...
...is that one of the guys who drafted the forber QB from Kentucky as a WR... ...is our GM. If its one position I trust Dorsey to evaluate for the draft, its WR. Green Bay has had a glut of WR talent for the last 20 years, the same way the Chiefs always seem to have RB's. Drafted w/ Dorsey at the helm: Robert Brooks Antonio Freeman Donald Driver (in the 7th round!!) Greg Jennings James Jones Jordy Nelson Randall Cobb

Dorsey left his post as Director of College Scouting in GB for Seattle in January of '99, the Driver draft was in April of '99, and then he returned to GB in January '00. He does not get full, or possibly any, credit for the Driver pick.

Idk Abdullah hadn't done much last season, Ron has played good for quite some time now. The guys on NFL.com were calling him a star in the making. We need to lock that guy up NOW. All 32 teams would love to have a guy capable of manning up a speedy wr, and is also capable of playing SS, and a good tackler.

Let's say this shit with DeSean Jackson goes sour in Washington.
Do you guys trade Eric Berry for DeSean straight up? |

He'll yes. not a lot of guys id trade berry for. But id definitely get rid of him for a younger pro bowl/all pro caliber player at a more important position.

Jackson's 27, two years older than Berry.

If Berry is traded, it should be for picks, not a player. IF the Chiefs were to trade Berry, they may have two picks in each round from 2-7. That would be a total game changer. |

The Chiefs are likely Super Bowl contenders in 2015. Stocking the team with a baker's dozen of rookies hurts that cause. Because of the compensatory picks we're getting, we're likely going to have 11 draft picks. Draft picks for Berry don't do us a lot of good, not in 2015. I might actually be down for trading away Eric Berry for high draft picks in 2016. That's unconventional, but so is nearly everything else he's done. |

That said, let's say the team re-signs Parker, keeps Abdullah, and brings back Coleman for vet minimum. Trades Berry for Jackson.
Let's go nuts on this. Let's say they spend their 1st rounder on the best CB available. 2nd round they bring in a WR. In the third, they net a RT and ILB. Draft BPA the rest of the way. QB: Smith RB: Charles, Davis, DAT FB: Sherman WR: Bowe, Jackson, 2nd rounder, DAT TE: Kelce OL: Fisher, Allen, Hudson, Fulton, Stephenson, (+ 3rd rounder) DL: Poe, Bailey, Howard, Catapano Edge rushers: Houston, Hali?, Ford ILB: 3rd rounder, Mauga CB: Smith, Gaines, 1st rounder S: Abdullah, Parker, Coleman, Commings That's a Super Bowl-caliber roster. |

We haven't moved in the Draft since 2011. I've had the "we can totally move around in the draft!" line of thinking conditioned out of me. |
