No kids, only have cat, but have multiple properties and liquid assets. Plan on filing separately even if get married. What do I need to know?

The guy that has been claiming for more than a decade that's he's "practical" is on the verge of making the most impractical decision of all time.

Should have got married when you both had nothing. The wife and I had about $2k to our name (mostly her money) when we moved to the Southwest and only I had a job to start with. We started making a bit of money and got engaged within the year. There was nothing I was worried about her taking. It was kind of nice. LOL. I do realize if we get divorced, she can get half of the stuff we own/have now, even though I make substantially more than her. One question I am not sure of is what access does your spouse have to investment accounts in your name? We both contribute about 10% of our paychecks to our 401ks. But since I make substantially more than her, my investment sum is quite a bit more than hers. Is there anyway in a divorce she could access that money? |

My wife is awesome and practical. It's super hard to find. Honestly, I just don't know the answer about the 401k thing? I am just curious and hope I never need to use it! |

Wouldn't be surprised.. Probably depends on the girl, but I'd bet certain ones could have a pretty good idea on ballpark figure for the cost just by looking. |

Valid points and things I've legitimately thought about. I was poor as shit growing up; her parents are extremely well off. She, like most women, likes the finer things. We're not getting married anytime soon so I have plenty of time to figure out what truly makes her tick. |

The 401Ks are also a marital asset, so yes, she owns half of your 401K, and vice versa. And dealing with that in a divorce, if you need to split it as opposed to giving her something else of equal value, is a real bitch.

I know a few guys in this category too. I can't even figure it out. Maybe the guy is boring as hell in bed, or hung like a hamster, but I'm just astounded. One guy I know got sex on his birthday every year. ONLY his birthday. That was it. The one day a year he could get a piece of ass. WTF? Or perhaps more accurate -- What the No ****? I get it -- kids, jobs, parents -- people are stretched to the max trying to cover all the bases, and the wives often have it the worst with cooking/cleaning/kid crap etc., but if you're not having sex, you're just roommates. What kind of bond do you really have without any sex?

I've got another friend whose wife used to bring other women into the bedroom with them before they were married. Once they got married, that stopped. Then, she had a child and now they barely have sex a few times a year. Another friend is super successful and has a super hot wife for her age (49). She runs four miles every morning, she's lean, has big tits and is very stylish and is successful in her own right. They used to have crazy sex, now he has to beg for it and gets a blowjob maybe once a month. I could go on and on and on but I have far too many of these types of tales to share. In most cases, these people dated for an extended period of time and have been married for an extended period of time before this began happening in their early-to-mid 40's. The guys that have divorced are going crazy bangin' chicks. Like, insane, yet from my understanding, the divorced women are miserable. I don't get it. |

Or, of course, he was super-busy all the time and paid no attention to her. That certainly results in marital problems of all kinds. Quote:

Don't know what these women are thinking, but hope they enjoy the divorce that is coming their way. The guy who begs for the monthly blowjob needs to straighten her out. That marriage is toast. No guy with money and reasonable looks and a successful career is going to keep groveling for sex, unless he's actually into that kind of thing, which is rare at best. Eventually he will get resentful, and then the marriage is going to be toast. Get counseling if needed, or have a serious heart-to-heart.
