*.* 2013 General Fitness Thread *.*

Welcome to 2013! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

**From the 2012 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

The diet caved in hard yesterday.. I prob needed the calories though. Buddy is a huge Cowgirls fan and came over for the game. Local pizza shop had a 'football deal' 2x large pies, 2x dozen wings, 2x 1 litres for $20. We paid extra and had them make buffalo chicken pizza and that shit was awesome. We each finished our pies by halftime and the wings in the second half. Washed down with Diet Pepsi Max, naturally.
I usually don't take quite that long, but I was gone for about 2 hours today.

It's good to have crazy food days like that on occasion, but Diet Pepsi Max? *vomiting*

Diet Pepsi Max and Diet Dr Pepper are my jam.

I wish I wasn't so broke or else I'd order a pizza and wings right now myself.

Gonna be tough getting calories until I get paid Thursday.

I haven't had soda in nearly 3 years. The idea of drinking one actually seems weird to me.

Same here. At first I switched to diet sodas, but then I realized that its pretty scary that they can create the same taste with ZERO anything in the nutritional information. Those chemicals can't be good for you.

It may have been all in my head, but I felt noticeably better after I stopped drinking it. I was surprised at how easy it was to quit.

I doubt they are good for me, but they taste good.

I know at some point I'm going to really need to clean my diet up.

You should be eating fairly clean now. Trying to add size is not a invitation to eat whatever the fawq you want. I personally drink a ton of diet soda, preferably pepsi max and diet a&w rootbeer.

I was having some pretty severe knee pain so I decided to start running sprints on leg days instead. I haven't run full speed in probably over a year and pulled a hammy on the first night Just going too hard, too soon.

That was the Saturday before last and I feel about 90%. I figure I'll give it another few days before I try it out again and be sure to ease into this time.

I really can't wait though. For the 20 or so minutes of sprints that I did, I remembered how much I love running. HATE long distance- love the short stuff.

I finally got my bike tuned up for biking season here so I can get some cardio that I don't hate.

First ride in mid September after work (4:30)....103 degrees. .

But it's a dry heat, so it's all good.

Don't do it dude. Give it more time. If it was anything at all, 2 weeks isn't enough.

I've been there. I hurt it sprinting and tried to play basketball after a couple weeks. I hurt it jumping. Not extending or getting down the court.

If you do, I'd run about half speed and work on getting your stride out there but not putting a lot of power.

Then when you do start again, I'd run into your start, don't start from a stop.

Be the hell careful. Mine felt pretty good but was shit. It took me forever to get over it. Maybe yours wasn't as severe, but just be careful.

I barely trust Phoenix drivers in the day. Going out at night is a death sentence.

Really, anything under 105 I can handle. It felt ok today.

Lewdog per chance you read this within the next couple hours.

The new gym I've been going to has no PEC DEC machine. Can I skip or should I replace? Flys maybe?

Throws some incline DB flys in there actually and drop the pec dec no matter what gym you go too.
