Check out the grills at BBQ's Galore for some very heavy duty equipment that will last. I Bought one of the Cook-ON models about 6 years ago, and it is showing no signs of wear.
The Basic Models start around $325 These grills are put together more robustly than the Webers. The grilling surface is Porcelainized cast-iron, the Burners are Porcelainized cast iron, the Flame spreaders are cast iron with Ceramic briquettes. There is a lot of cast Iron inside for durability & even heating. These things are built like tanks. Very happy with mine Barbeques Galore Basic Model Barbeques Galore Main page Last edited by svuba; 04-20-2007 at 11:28 AM.. |

At the same price, the Char-Broil 463268007 gives you four burners, 50,000 BTU, and 660 square inches. It also has a stainless hood and front, which give it an added bonus in the appearance column. http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...007&lpage=none If you're willing to go a bit over the $350 mark, Lowe's just dropped the price on the model that's a step up from the Char-Broil that I mentioned. At $359, you get a full stainless surround and an extra 120 square inches of cooking surface: http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...107&lpage=none I have the $299 Char-Broil model, and it has been excellent. |

Well I ended up with a Weber Genesis 1000 LX for about $50 more than I wanted to spend. It's an older model Weber but was new and already assembled so I'm good to grill tonight.

I'm adding a roof and extension to my patio and looking at running a natural gas line back there. If we do, I'll be converting a propane smoker and my Blackstone to NG. I'll try to convert my Weber but if it doesn't work, I'll buy me one of the new Genesis with the fancy sear burner - 39,000 BTUs plus a 9,000 BTU sear burner, plus a 12,000 BTU side burner. I kinda hope the conversion doesn't work.

I thought about getting a gas grill since my apartment doesn't allow charcoal but I just can't do gas. It's gotta be charcoal for me so I don't grill, which i miss a lot

I know this is an older thread, but if you are looking for gas for the quick and easy grill out, then check out the Weber Q line. I just picked up a Weber Q200 on Facebitch marketplace for $50. Works like a champ. I had one already, but the wife shut the garage door on it and killed the fold out sides, so I removed them and it's now the deer camp grill. I've had it for 12 years and aside from the garage door incident, it's been a workhorse. They are made of cast aluminum, so no rusting at all, and the grates are cast iron.
