The 49ers have expressed to others that a deal for QB Alex Smith is effectively complete. Can't be finalized til league year begins 3/12

Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora

so it's not official, both clubs view it at as it's effectively done. I do not know the other team. KC and JAX are 2 teams that make sense

That might be too much for a CB with a knee issue. Even if his name is Revis. But an idea of a trade between the Jets and 49ers involving those players make a lot of sense.

meh. Smith has won a playoff game, he's a decent QB. Reid can make him focus on consistency.

Marvin is right about this. Heard an interview with Daddy Harbaugh saying that Jim swore him to secrecy during the '11 draft concerning how much the 9ers coveted Kaepernick.

If anything, it is a lesson in not reaching for a QB just to draft a QB... not a lesson in dumb luck as you insist.

Building ur team then taking a qb isnt a recipe for success. Its a gamble.which 95% of time wont end in super bowls but constant 8-8s and bitter fans who want nothing more than to draft Geno Smith.

WE HAVE TRIED IT YOUR SO CALLED RIGHT WAY. FOR 30 ****ING YEARS WEVE TRIED IT THAT WAY! Excuse us if we want to do it another way.
Please.

There is a BIG difference between the second round and the 6th. ALso...the niners were winning with Alex Smith.

I'm not saying it's a bad idea to take a QB at the top....I'm saying don't take him there if he isn't worthy of the pick.

This.

If Kaepernick had never made it out of round one, then you'd be standing there with your dick in your hand and your "value" argument would have no legs to stand on.

Yeah, that's what people had been saying about him for years. How many coaches and OC's were fired during Smith's tenure?

Thats ****ing stupid. then they most certainly did luck into him. They took a huge risk waiting till when they did if he was so highly coveted
