Help Me Pick the Next Blowfish Mobile!

Well, Mr. Jeep is on his last legs. Time to find a new ride. I've driven Jeep Grand Cherokees since 1993. My current is a 2002 with 248,000 miles, and stuff keeps breaking, so time to bail out.

Looking to spend around $25 Grand, and think I can do a Jeep Grand that's maybe 2 or 3 years old for that.

My brother in law has a Ford Edge and really likes it. Don't know if I can swing a brand new car, even thought the financing would be much lower than used.

Any advice as to SUV models I should look at? I don't care about car color, I'm not towing anything, all I care about is will it go through the snow (4x4 or AWD) and I'd like to get heated seats this time.

What say you?

And, for you CPers who work for car dealers, you can PM me if you like, as long as you're in the KC Area, I'll consider what you have to say.

The last car my wife and I bought was from a CPer and it was a very satisfactory transaction.

Can you help a brother out???

Hmm, I put ~500 miles on an Edge rental a couple weeks ago... same here, didn't love the instrument panel, but it was a nice ride overall, at least for a rental (didn't experience the temp thing, it was always at the top of the panel, even though it took us a few minutes to find it). The $30/day was nice, too.

In reading over the replies in this thread, I believe someone pointed out that I was incorrect in labeling the Subie as being a 4x4. Technically, I believe AWD is the more appropriate nomenclature for the Subie drive system, so I stand corrected.

Just wanted to acknowledge the oversight on my part.

Carry on.

GB- I am in the same boat.

Sold my 04 dakota tonight. Looking for a new truck.

Have a few friends with the Edge. Been solid.
We have an AWD Dodge Journey. Good car too. Tough to see out of the back.

I had a fusion last month and it was kind of nice but the controls were not intuitive. The instrumentation controls on the steering wheel were bass awkwards bill

I am wondering to what degree Fiat is going to change the drive line. I fear that anything after 2013 or 2014 is not going to be the same the product that has earned the reputation of Jeep. The ques and lines of the body has definitely changed.

The wrangler will remain the same. Only change they are looking to do is aluminum body panels like Ford did with the 150, a diesel option and a electric hybrid.

Electric could be very beneficial to those who go off road/rock crawl because of the low end torque that can be created by the electric.

They also own Ferrari.

Much in the same way that Volkswagen owns Bugatti, Lamborghini, Bentley, Porsche and Audi.

It will.

Oil gets up to the crankshaft, and it ****s shit up in a hurry.

Friend of mine in high school had the dealership not refill it with oil. He drove a few blocks away before it shut down. He was telling me about it and said that he just had them put some in it and wet about his business. He was making jokes about it. I was appalled. Pretty good chance his motor suffered major damage. And he didn't even get them on the hook for it.

Always double check the dipstick before you start that bitch.
