The good thing about this song being a generic piece of shit is it can't stay stuck in most people's head for more than five minutes or so. Otherwise there would have probably been a startling number of suicides since this song was released.

Analysis: The early part of the stanza is about enlightenment. Her eyes open, things are fresh to her. However, real-world pressures bring her down from this enlightenment ("go downstairs"), and drag her into the mundane (eating cereal). She is then forced into conformity with society (going to the bus stop to catch the bus, which is full of other people who have done the same), but then she sees an alternative, a means of escape.
