Mals' Chiefs: A Madden Franchise

Fed up with losing in the playoffs? Want to draft a QB? Want to fire Andy Reid?

The Chiefs won't do it, but I will.

Tonight I dusted off my copy of Madden 2008 for the PC, grabbed an updated roster and off we go!

First order of business: simulate the 2015 season. Stop worrying. Everything is fine.

Oops. We lost in the divisional round again.

Your Super Bowl champions:

Onto the offseason!

I'll post retirees, who is cut/resigned, and if there are any intriguing fake quarterbacks for selection in the 2016 draft.

Although you won, kicking the FG from 4th and Goal on the 1 with Charles in the backfield is a bitchmade decision.

Still, 9.9/10, would read again.

The Jets' front seven was wrecking Morse, Tardif and my rookie LG all day. I went full Schottenheimer and ran it 3 times inside the 5, straight up the ****ing middle.

Still can't believe Geno bailed me out. It wasn't even a user pick.

5 rushing yards for the Jets. Like the front line of the Chiefs owing them.

Looks like Lamount trained with D. Bowe in the off-season or something. Too many drops.

Alex looks like he's being Alex.

Haven't played Madden in years. The play I always go to in NCAA when I need a short yardage score is to go Goalline with a Double HB swap, and then give it to the feature back on a FB dive.

In his defense, 7 drops was not pretty. He had two TD passes dropped.

All the throws over 25 yards are shitty, though.

Should be fun to scramble with him when his speed drops another 5 pts next offseason.

Week 5: Chiefs 23, Broncos 20

Brock Osweiler? They're calling him Sack Osweiler after the Chiefs got done with him Sunday night.

Osweiler was nailed seven times by Kansas City's defense in a 23-20 loss that tied Kansas City with Denver atop the AFC West.

While the Chiefs passing game malfunctioned again, thanks to five drops from tight end Travis Kelce, Jamaal Charles carried the offense. He ripped off a big gain on the game's opening snap from scrimmage.

Spoiler!

The Chiefs took a 7-0 lead on a short TD pass to Tre McBride. And then the carnage started on Osweiler. Justin Houston notched KC's first sack of the game.

Spoiler!

The Broncos did manage to tie the game at 7 with a long TD pass, but the Chiefs regained the lead thanks to another huge play from Alex Smith to Chris Lamont, leading to a field goal.

Spoiler!

The Chiefs then began to assault Osweiler en masse. Stephen Paea nailed him right in the chest, and Dee Ford followed with a sack of his own.

Spoiler!

Osweiler eventually cracked under the pressure, and threw an interception to Eric Berry.

Spoiler!

The Chiefs then seemingly blew a chance to extend their lead, as Smith was pressured, ran backwards and threw the ball away on a horrible intentional grounding penalty that lost 26 yards.

Spoiler!

But on 2nd and 36, Charles saved KC's bacon once again, and ripped off his longest gain of the season, a 46-yarder that set up a field goal that put the Chiefs up 13-7.

Spoiler!

Meanwhile, the Chiefs defended their lead by treating Sack Osweiler like the bitch he is. Zach Brown, who had an incredible 17 tackles for the Chiefs, grabbed his first sack of the season.

Spoiler!

The Broncos kicked a field goal to make the score 13-10, but thanks to a long catch-and-run from fullback Anthony Sherman and a Smith TD run, the Chiefs put the game out of reach.

Spoiler!

Smith survived despite half of Denver's defense nailing him at the goal line.

Spoiler!

Kansas City then ended the game the way it started by beating the crap out of Sack Osweiler, one last time, though he did manage to score a garbage time TD.

Spoiler!

Around the league: The Seattle Seahawks are the last undefeated team at 5-0. The surprising Miami Dolphins have the AFC's best record at 5-1.

Next week: The Chiefs travel to Oakland to face the 3-1 Raiders. The AFC West is tightly contested this season: every team has a winning record so far.

46 yard gain by Jamaal on 2nd and 36

And that pic of the entire Denver D bearing down on Alex at the goal line. He must have gotten his shit all ****ed up.

This made me

This shit is too good.

How did Sherman not score on that pass? He must be speed 20!

My passing game was doing shit all so I just said "**** it" and handed it off.

I'm going to change the pass catch sliders so they're a little more realistic...we'll see if the passing offense improves.

Really looking forward to playing virtual Andrew Luck after the Raiders.

He isn't fast, and when you play on All Madden mode it's easy for slow players to get caught from behind.

He's not realizing half his potential with Alex at QB. He absolutely cannot lead receivers deep, at all.

It's frustrating given that the last time I played Madden years ago, I had a drafted QB with a massive arm who could hit any throw.

I'm thinking next offseason I may trade Charles, Hali and someone on my DL for a higher pick.
