Like I said, I'm not a big fan of the playcalling there. But I really don't care if you call pass plays in this situation.

If you want to complain about playcalling or the complete lack of trying to run the clock out on the plays called in, I'm with you.

Thank you for clarifying my point. Great coaches get the first down and score while draining the clock. Reid went for the score first, which has to happen at some point either way, or obviously, it is game over. Hopefully he is learning but after coaching as long as he has he probably has maxed out his capacity. Let's also not forget that McGrath was almost tackled on that 4th and 4 play. Of course no call.

The clock management was a cluster ****. No excuse for that. The playcalling... I'm not a big fan of the plays called, but that has nothing to do with us not burning enough clock. Calling the 2nd best play option because it burns clock versus giving you a scoring opportunity means you have to get into the end zone in less tries.
Freaking nonsense. Jamaal AGAIN was putting up 5 yards per carry, the broncos were gassed, that is NOT the second best play option. Sounds like you and reid are in the same situational awareness fog.

He was putting up 5 yards per carry on a long field. He had 4 carries for 4 yards in the red zone that game (1 carry being a 1-yard TD run). The last game against Denver, three carries for 2 yards (2 of those carries being on the 1 yard line for 0 gain).Denver didn't look gassed in that final red zone series. They played excellent defense in that 4-down series.

Like I said, I don't mind running the ball. But JFC, the fact that people are acting like it was a slam dunk or a clear best play option. It wasn't. Our passing game was very effective in the red zone. All game long. Our running game was not very good in the red zone.

My problem with Reid's management is when the Chiefs got the ball across the 5o, into Denver territory.

There was nearly 2:20 left, 2 TOs to use, and the 2 minute warning.

The pace and the playcalling from that point was more like what you'd need with only about 45 seconds and no TOs.

It was absurd.

How about when you on the 14(?) with a 1st and 10 with 2 mins+, you run the ball then?

Agreed. Where was that last series occurring again? Inside the 20? Yet they were in hurry up mode like there was 30 seconds left with no TOs.

Absolutely no reason to rush. Especially with Manning waiting on the other end. You have to do your best to leave him as little time as possible if you score there.

We seem to play better in hurry up situations, maybe I guess?

That's probably about the only plausible possibility i've heard from anyone so far.

Still he could keep up the fast pace but throw in some more running plays to keep the clock running. If the only way our offense can be successful is to abandon all control then we have other problems.

I know.

That was the primary reason I wasn't among the happy crowd when he was hired.

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't another option that we not even run a play at all and just let the clock hit the 2 minute warning? Because that's perfectly acceptable too. Even better in fact because it burns more clock. I don't have any idea why Reid ****ed up the clock management. And I'm not a big fan of the actual plays called. I'm not as sold as everyone else that running Charles is some kind of a guarantee of better yardage.

McCluster had a **** up on the punt return.

But why the hate? He had a terrific game as a receiver. 2 first downs and a hugely clutch catch on the final drive. Second week in a row he's done that. He's become one of our most reliable receivers in the clutch of late. Without a facemask penalty, he also scores a TD from the 6 yard line.

Speaking of incompetence, has anyone mentioned accepting the illegal shift penalty with 4:10 left in the game?

It worked out, but I'm not giving Manning another down to work with over 5 measly yards.

3-15>>>>>>2-20.
