My bad if I'm creating a thread for something mundane, but I'm looking to get the best price on some tickets to California around thanksgiving.

So, which website/app does CP use to get the best deals on airline tickets?

Which days of the week are the cheapest as far as ticket prices are concerned?

Any other tips?

All sites claim BUYING your ticket on a Tuesday usually has the lowest fares of the week.
Agree with what everyone said about Frontier and Spirit, complete garbage Airlines.
Kayak, Hotwire, Expedia pretty much match each other in pricing.
The key is to check prices OFTEN when you are sure of the dates and times you are going then lock in a good price as far out as possible from your date and travel.
If you see a good price book it and don't dick around trying to save $20 only to than have prices jump $100.

Use Google Flights, search your flight, then select price graph. If your dates are flexible it is a great way to find the cheapest times. It is also pretty cool because you can look at a map and see what it costs to fly to any destination.

Yeah, if you have any flexibility, you'll save a lot more by traveling on off days than you ever will timing your purchase. I use Google Flights extensively in my research.

I don't know where you're flying from or to, but SWA is my go to airline. No BS on bags, they usually are on time, and they offer the cheapest fares. Sure enough, you're not always going to get your favorite seat and you may be packed in like cattle, but for my money spent, it's worth the hassle. I just checked KC to Orange County, Ca and they have $142 each way flights if you go Tues. or Wed.

Hmmm....I've flown Allegiant a time or two. They are pretty cheap but you have to go through a lot of hoops. What are the significant reasons? We did have an issue with the engine on our plane last year when we flew to Florida. To a few hours to fix it but we got there. They gave us $50 vouchers for that inconvenience.

Didn't see this until today (expires tomorrow), but Southwest will run these sales throughout the year and you can occasionally find some good deals. Depending on where and from you're flying of course.

I have the best luck with my AAA travel rep. I shop to keep them honest and they beat my deals every time and they are free.

Plus my gal somehow knows what flights to put me on to get me free seats for taking another flight. Yes I did mention that on return flights I like giving up my seats for free flights. I think there is a data base she put me in.

Thanks. It's looking like I can get three tickets for $1019 right now. That's about the best deal I've found. Anybody have Southwest horror stories? Any reason not to fly southwest?

We'd have to fly in to Oakland instead of San Fran, but that's not a huge deal.

Southwest is good. No hidden fees, and good performance record.

I should note that I usually travel alone so I'm not trying to sit in a group. If you want to sit with your party, be sure that you check in 24 hours ahead of time, and not one second later. Otherwise, your family might be deprived of your company for three hours.

Tip-Take an extra suitcase to pack with booze so you can check it and fly all the good shit home.
