Chiefs Alternate History Madden Franchise: Can Joe Montana take KC back to the SB?

Return of Mals: Joe Montana Edition

Downloaded a 1993 NFL Roster updated for Madden 17 last night.

All teams and players are edited to reflect their 1993 counterparts. Steve Young, Troy Aikman, Warren Moon and JOE MONTANA are all on this roster along with every other starter AND backup from 1993. This roster is so accurate it has Andre Ware on the Lions. Titans serve as the Oilers, Texans and Jags are full of generic assholes.

Chiefs have Joe, Marcus, DT, Smith, Carter, etc. Whoever did this is a genious and even got the player equipment right. Faces are computer-generated and coaches are wrong, but can't have everything.

The goal: get the Chiefs back in the SB with Montana at starting QB. Franchise will run until Joe retires. Not allowed to switch QBs.

LET'S DO THIS!

OK, so the Chiefs have a QB problem. With Montana out for the first 4 weeks of the regular season with a torn hamstring, they have Rich Gannon and rookie Stoney Case.

Gannon is an OK QB, but if he gets hurt they're looking at a dumpster fire. So they do what the Chiefs always do, and trade for a veteran backup:

Feel the Bern, KC.

Marty Schottenheimer hasn't declared who will start for Montana.

The regular season opens on Monday Night against the Denver Broncos.

Unfortunately, Grbac was not on this roster as he was drafted in the 8th round in 1993. Apparently that was a little too obscure for the original roster maker.

If you really want I could create him on the 49ers as a backup and give him a two-year deal and see if he hits FA.

In any case, Week 1, Thursday Night Season Opener, Broncos @ Chiefs.

Spoiler!

Haha so get this.

I was doing some league roster maintenance, and added Elvis Grbac, Jeff Blake and Mark Brunell. Grbac and Blake stuck on the 49ers and Bengals after advancing a week. (Blake is the backup to Jim McMahon)

Brunell was the 2nd best QB on the Jags behind Steve Beuerlein, and apparently they decided they didn't need him.

Gets cut and the Vikings pick him up, and replace Sean Salisbury immediately.

I love alternate history NFL.

And wasn't it Salisbury that was chosen play over Gannon in Minny back in the day, as well?

Looks like it was the other way around.

http://www.pro-football-reference.co...s/min/1992.htm

However, Gannon was on the Redskins in 1993. Apparently he sucked ass for the Redskins in 1993, got cut, and then I picked him up in 1994 FA.

Who is the opponent in week 3? I'd say that would determine it, especially with the way TD is churning right now.

Someone test Barry for PEDs...he's on pace for 2,900 total yards and 30 TD.
