*.* NEW- 2014 General Fitness Thread *.*

I guess we filled up the old one... http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=280149

Welcome to 2014! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

No one else started it so here it is!

**From the 2013 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

Yes - I'll be returning to a gym once the move is complete - Yeah I've 'reached a point' so to speak.

You can overtrain a body part. 400 pullups every day sounds like overtraining your biceps to me.

If rest & nutrition are in check.. its unlikely. I have construction worker buddies that work 12hr manual labor jobs and train arms directly 3 times per week (all 3 train 7 days/week also) Surely they are not 'over training' their arms, as they are 18+ inches. Its a widely misused term mostly thrown around by guys that dont even look like they lift.

For those who know more than I do about this stuff: can you get this look without steroids?

It's of one of the Hogs linebackers. I've been really impressed with our S&C coach's transformations he's made of our players. He's a crazy freak who espouses super clean eating and such (I see him at our natural food store all the time). However, I'm beginning to wonder if a lot of these guys aren't juicing, especially after this picture.

Here's a video about him:

Yea looks pretty obvious. College football and the NFL are loaded with 'roids and a much larger percentage of HGH use IMO. His gyno is very noticeable on his left pec in the first picture.

Extremely short testosterone esters make testing (getting caught) very difficult. Test suspension is out of your system in like a day or two.. and those kids can beef up over the summer when they are home and keep all their size as long as they keep calories high enough to support it.

just my $.02, but if your fat (>15% for male), you dont need anything before working out. Maybe a pre-workout or some coffee, but as far as 'fuel' goes, think of fat as stored fuel. The leaner you are, the better your body uses carbz as you have better insulin sensitivity. Silock would know better as he is lean as fawk.

I don't eat before workouts. It's just not necessary if your nutrition is on point. Feed yourself well generally and it will fall into place.

What exactly do they test for? Specific compounds?

+1. I don't eat specifically before a workout either. Maybe a protein bar for lunch and a workout 2-3 hours later. Some days I don't eat anything all day and workout at 2-3 pm. I've noticed no difference in strength from when I always used to meal time 90 minutes before a workout with protein/carbs to not really giving a shit about eating like I do now. I actually prefer a relatively empty stomach when training now.

I generally feel a bit more spry for the first half of my workout if I haven't eaten since I avoid that lethargy that comes with eating a meal.

The last 1/3rd or so I feel like I don't have that extra bit in the tank to finish out sets though. Oftentimes I end up half-assing the last few sets so I can high tail it out of there and get some food.
