I wish someone in Congress had some....


I just want to be clear to every Republican/right-winger that has argued that Democrats/liberals are responsible for our ridiculous deficit and national debt -- the tax cut bill and the budget increase that just got through a Congress that Republicans control, with a Republican POTUS signing into law (presumably), clearly establishes that it's all just talk.

NEITHER PARTY gives a damn about the deficit or debt, and neither party can claim any moral high ground on the topic.

Which sucks for all Americans IMHO.

Sadly, somebody has to be the adult in the room. And it sure ain't gonna be the Dems. When folks are promised the moon and stars and actually have it given to them, unfortunately somebody either needs to buck up and pay or (my choice) change the laws that are handing out the free candy. It ain't fair I know, but I personally hold the Republicans to a higher standard here.

Remember when Republicans claimed to be fiscally responsible, then started the first war in American history that was completely on the credit card AND cut taxes at the same time?

I guess paying for equipment and readiness doesn't matter when you can just put it on the country's credit card and complain about entitlements.

Republicans pass budgets needing x amount of money, then cut taxes.

You guys just did it, again. You cut taxes before you finalized a budget, leading to another Republican increase in the country's deficit.

You have to give President Obama and his administration credit where its due.

He inherited a trillion dollar deficit and other than the initial stimulus package (which I assume you agree we needed), he was able to slice it down during an economic recovery from a near-depression at record rates.

Before him, President Clinton left office with a surplus.

Now, I'm not saying either President is spotless, but in my lifetime, it's been Democratic Presidents that have cut and erased the deficit, and Republicans who ballooned the deficit.

I can agree with that if you are getting at laws need to be changed to get rid of government handouts. I want that badly

But right now, Republicans control 2 of the three branches of government (officially all three, but the McCain,Flake, McConnell types in the Senate make it a spenders paradise). Right now is the time they should put on the big boy shoes and distinguish themselves from the Democrats IMO.
