Doctor was happy to keep prescribing those Norco 10's for like a year, then cut me off cold turkey. No tapering, nothing. By that time I was dependant on the medication and was sick as a dog trying to go through withdrawal. I turned to alternative methods of getting my norco's. A few years down the road I said **** it I'm done with it and haven't looked back. I never took more than 10mg at a time, and never over 40mg a day. But if I didn't have it, I would get so, so sick. Strongest thing I'll take these days is ibuprofen. **** opiates. And **** the doctors that get patients hooked on the stuff long term and then kicked them to the curb when they got their hand slapped for handing the shit out like lollipops. |

It might be worth a try, all doctors are different. I've just had bad, bad experiences with this topic. I'm getting fired up thinking about it. |

Congratulations on making it for these first 8 days, more power to you! Hang in there, one day at a time.
I have had 5 prescriptions for different injuries/root canal accumulate over the years without taking any. Recently I tore the meniscus in my knee and took three of them over a 24 hour period. Holy shit, the next day was hell and I got somewhat of a clue how someone could get addicted to them. I prefer the pain. These doctors prescribe them to liberally. Recently 60 minutes ran a segment on those pain centers in Florida and a Dr. that is spending life in prison his activity in prescribing so many. |

I have degenerative disc disease and two herniated discs that I know of...this was 10 years ago, likely worse now. Three different doctors recommend surgery but until my kids are all grown and on their own I can't afford to miss work for six months.
My last doc gave me vicodin for about six months, never abused them and only took them as prescribed unless it was a really bad day. When I decided I was done with them the next week was hell. I called in with "the flu" and agonized tossing and turning in bed for days. Way worse than any flu I've ever had. After about a week I was good and have never touched an opiate since and will never no matter how bad my back gets. |

I'll tell you, the only relief I could find during that week was boning Direckshun's mom, I highly recommend it.

I went through 4 major knee surgeries in four years. I was on percocet and vicodin for years. Never got addicted to them. The only addiction I ever had was nicotine. I consider myself extremely lucky.

Actually, yes. I do (did?) HVAC. I was working in an attic and stepped on a stud that wasn't nailed in properly, sending me through the ceiling. Neck, back, hips, and nerve damage.
I've been on opiates for two years. Tylenol 3, then T4, Hydrocodone 5, 7.5, and then 10s. I'd been munching on 6-8 10s (prescribed, never abused) for the last year until they'd stopped helping. I'd finally had enough and started TAPERING about two months or so ago and I'm miserable. I can't imagine going cold turkey on this shit dude. I drop 5mg every Sunday and it ****ing sucks lol... As suggested already, I'd look into medical marijuana. I got approved in late July but my picture didn't meet requirements (derp!). I resubmitted a few weeks ago and actually expect my number next week. I do take 3200 mg of Gabapentin and 60 mg of Cymbalta for nerve pain. I was on Lyrica but worker's comp put an end to that.. I guess it's substantially more expensive than gabs? Last edited by Naptown Chief; 09-14-2019 at 09:13 PM.. |
