Been playing the crap outta the original Left 4 Dead lately...fallen in love with that game yet again.

Can't wait for the new DLC that is coming out that will bridge L4D and L4D2.

The "A.I. Director" is still one of the most ingenious and awesome game mechanics of this generation.

I'm talking about "The Sacrifice"...it drops in October.

Valve has released a digital coming on their website to go along with it, it's on their site and it's awesome.

I recently picked up an Xbox 360 at a garage sale for ten bucks. It is supposed to have the ROD. Since reflowing the weak solder joints is supposed to help fix the problem, I figured I would give it a shot. I am an electrical engineer and I have access to equipment to do it. If it doesn't work, I'm not out much.

However, it came with nothing - no controller, no hard drive, no faceplate. The face plate wasn't much of a big deal but I don't want to throw good money after bad if I can't get it fixed, so I was wondering what the minimum was that I needed to get it to run enough to test it.

When I fire it up, I get a single blinking red light, which is supposed to be a hardware failure. I haven't hooked it up to a TV yet, so I don't have an error code. Does it need a controller to boot up with no error? How about memory of some sort (hard drive or flash drive)?

Thanks.

You do not need a controller or a hard drive of any sort to boot properly, although you will need a hard drive or flash drive for the NXE dashboard update, which contains a good deal of the functionality on the Xbox besides just playing games.

You must, however, have an AV cable connected or you'll get red rings (4 I think).

Thanks. I'll hook it up to a TV and see what the error code is.

Are the aftermarket hard drives any good?

Aftermarket flash drive works just as well. I wouldn't use anything but the official hard drives. I didn't even know you could get anything else.

Really? I have both Left 4 Deads and neither one held that much replay value with me.

Yeah I don't know why...haven't played it in a while, played it the other night with some friends and forgot how much of a blast it was, esp. with other people.

Playing with the A.I. is alright but it really shines with friends.

I have a couple of 20 gig harddrives that get no use because I recently got a 100 gig with an elite system.

Word. As of right now, I'm willing to say it's probably the best racing game I have ever played, and I'm a huge fan of racing so I have played a lot of them.

The only real issue I have with this game is the way pits are handled - that shit is atrocious and needs to be fixed with a patch ASAP. I really don't like losing 11 places because my pit crew feels like the lane has to be completely clear before I can roll out.

Another issue I have (and it's not nearly as huge) is the lack of any real tire and fuel info. I want a goddamn percentage on my fuel and tires so I can make educated decisions as opposed to educated guesses on when to pit.

The driving and the presentation is absolutely amazing, though. I feel like a real F1 pilot in a real F1 cockpit (you have to turn all driving assists off and have the AI set to at least "Professional"). If anyone likes racing or is a F1 fan EVEN A LITTLE BIT, this game is a must.
