Longtime guard Brian Waters is officially done with the Patriots.

The daily NFL transactions list that was circulated to the media on Tuesday included a note that Waters had been terminated from the Patriots’ reserve/did not report list. That makes him an unrestricted free agent.

A six-time Pro Bowler who played for the Chiefs from 2000 to 2010, Waters signed with the Patriots in 2011 and played very well for them, providing some stability on their offensive line and starting all 19 games up to and including the Super Bowl. But he reportedly wanted a raise that the Patriots weren’t willing to give him in 2012, and he never reported to the team.

The 36-year-old Waters is now free to see if any other team will pay him what he wanted the Patriots to pay him. More likely, he has played his last NFL game.

That, and the furniture seems pretty generic and mismatched. All that white would drive me crazy, though.

I also find it notable that he has all those helmets on the bookshelf in his office, with the Chiefs on the top shelf, and I don't see a Saints helmet at all. I'm thinking he's still not very happy with New Orleans.

Ray Lewis' house has more style, though what's the deal with those dining room chairs? And the ceiling would make me think that I'm living in a big beehive. However, a grand piano always looks good, and he's got some nice views.

You're right, that dining room table and those chairs would be history, as would those creepy looking elephants.

His laundry room is almost as big as our kitchen, lol.

So just to recap for anyone who missed it -- Waters missed OTAs and mandatory minicamp, but BB stated those were excused. Then he was missing when training camp started, which was unusual. BB was, as usual, very evasive. Ultimately, he was put on the did not report / reserve list, and his number, 54, was given to rookie Dont'a Hightower.

It came out that apparently he was looking for either a raise or to be traded, or both. Rumor was that he'd be willing to play for the Texans, the team closest to where he lives, I guess. The Patriots let it slip (unusual for them), that they'd be willing to bump up his salary from the $2.5MM he was scheduled to make to $4.0MM, and thought that woudl do the trick, but he still never showed.

Rumor was he was hoping to be released so he could play, but fat chance of that.

Let me be clear -- he was REALLY GOOD in 2011. Played extremely well. Far beyond our hopes, honestly, for a guy that age who was thought to be on the decline. Patriots fans were very disappointed.

I support the "start winning now and build a franchise that can sustain it" moves that I think Reid and Dorsey are working on. Forgive me if that's too much nuance for you to handle.
