GOP voters are tribal and deeply partisan, polling shows

Remember when Obama wanted to strike Syria for their chemical weapon attack? 22% of Republicans were in favor at the time. When that same ABC poll was done under Trump, 86% of Republicans were in favor despite the nearly identical circumstances that they took place in. Democrats supported the strikes in Syria by about the same margins in both polls, 37% and 38%, respectively.

http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer...der-obama.html

What about the economy? As soon as Trump was elected, Republicans completely changed their tune on the state of the economy despite nothing actually changing. Democrats view immediately became more negative showing their own levels of partisanship, but it's a much more modest swing than on the GOP side.

When it comes to Putin, 12% of Republicans saw him favorably in 2015. Now? 32% of Republicans do, and that's AFTER his bad behavior in Ukraine and meddling in our election. Democrats, again, had much more modest shifts in their views.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/204191/pu...publicans.aspx

Lastly, let's take a look at income taxes. There have been absolutely zero changes in the federal tax code since Trump took over, but magically there has been a 17 point shift in the views of GOP voters on whether their current taxes are fair or not.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/poll-do-...ystem-is-fair/

These polls lay out conclusively what is already obvious when dealing with Trump supporters. They are tribal. Liberals aren't perfect by any stretch, but their opinions do not shift with the wind when the President changes even if their views of that individual are deeply polarized. The herd mentality has helped the GOP dominate elections recently, but it would seem to be at the expense of any kind of principles or bipartisanship.

They did hate those two but we're too far removed for that to matter anymore when it comes to elections.

Convenient.

For 8 years, you blamed George W for everything. Suddenly, you've totally forgotten he existed. You folks are utterly hilarious

You believe GW Bush hate was a factor in this last election? Of course not. Do you believe Hillary and Obama hate was? Unless you're lying through you teeth, of course it was. Trump hate will be a factor in the next one. This isn't a partisan statement but apparently you're too much of a dumbass to see it.

Voters are partisan. Who would have thought. You could see it the last 8 years when Obama took a dump on our constitution.

And a lot of Trumps strongest voters aren't tied to the republican party. They love this country and saw what the establishment have done to this country.

I'd rather be part of my partisan tribe. ( only the GOPe folks are closer to the Dims now)

A lot of liberals are against the mass data collection and surveillance of the NSA, myself included. But people are also scared about global terror groups and their ability to recruit through social media in a way they weren't in 2006. Even if I grant you this one issue, Republicans flip flopped at about the same margin which makes it a draw. You still have to explain the rest of the polling away that shows the GOP as being uniquely partisan in a way that Dems aren't.

We really need a 2 party system in this country to keep both sides in check but the DNC can't stop tripping on their dicks long enough to effectively enter the conversation.

When all data is collected, no data is collected.

In other words, it's meaningless.

I can go find several issues you flipped on once Lord Obummer got in. The main one: the Wars. War without George W just wasn't War after all. The day he left, all those protests nationwide just stopped. Nobody said a word about he continuance of Iraq and, mainly, Afghanistan which still goes on

Pelosi and Obama said the deficits were "immoral" and unfair to our children. I don't have to tell you how that one turned out

We need to break the 2 Party monopoly. We need to reduce the barriers state-by-state that prevent others from running.

Tho' with today's press and 24 hours coverage, who would wanna run. Everyone has some baggage — and it will get aired.
