Unless your cell phone company offers WiFi calling, you'll we need to get an app and another phone number to do the VOIP calling like Google Voice.
Google Voice + Hangouts = free wifi calling Use Hangout for wifi calls Use normal Cell phone app(button) for cell phone calls

I'm just curious if it will switch from WiFi to cell when I'm not at home. It seems like a good deal, but I'm not sure of the negatives of doing this. |

Mine switches to cell coverage when I'm not home. I've experienced no downsides to wifi calling, the only difference has been good reception at home.

I had an Air Rave when I had Sprint (**** Sprint, btw). The only issue I ever had was if I left the house while on a call, the phone wasn't capable of switching from wifi to regular signal so the call would invariably drop when I lost wifi signal.
