Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

Some 49ers players were worried that Kaepernick would be a step down from Alex, but he won them over when he showed he was a step up. They were worried Kaepernick would cost them games. He won them over when he showed that he could put the team on his back and carry them.
Well to be fair he did cost them the second Rams game pretty much single-handedly. He ran 20+ yards backwards when pressured into the endzone for a safety and then in a terrible play late in the game he pitched the ball way over the head of the rb on an option play deep in their own territory resulting in a recovery and defensive touchdown by the Rams. Niner fans all knew that Kaep was Harbaugh's guy for the long term, but a lot of them felt the switch was a mistake because the team was already a super bowl contender with Smith and giving the reigns to an unproven guy was risky. I still think they could've won the superbowl with Smith, but Kaep did play well down the stretch.

Ah yes, the single exception that proves the rule. We know this play meticulously. It is cited continuously by the Alex lovers on the 49ers forum.

As if that is the only 5 seconds that matter in an 8 year career.

If Vernon Davis could catch Kaepernick's 60 mph passes on his hands like Crabtree can, maybe he would have been targeted more. Crabtree only dropped 3 of Kaepernick's laser passes through Kaep's 1st 5 games.

Kaepernick already stated why he targeted Crabtree more, saying, "he was open." Which I take at face value.
Crabtree caught 44 passes from Smith and 41 from CK. I know in two fewer games, and his ypc went way up, but it wasn't like Smith wasn't targeting Crabtree.

Right. It sounds like Harbaugh starting running more plays to push the ball downfield.

You cite Kaepernick's 2 mistakes in the Rams game with the safety and the stupid pitch for a FR by the Rams for TD.

Why do you stop there?

He followed both mistakes with scoring drives the next time he put his hands on the ball.

In fact, the next drive after his stupid mistake pitching backwards, Kaepernick went 90 yards in 3 plays -- rushing for 50+ yards on one play, then put the ball right on the hands of Delainey Walker, who dropped it. Then he still could have scored a TD, but Delainey Walker's offside penalty made it 3rd and very long, so they settled for a FG.

Please tell the whole story. Yes, Kaepernick has made several mistakes in his first 6 NFL starts, with each mistake followed by a scoring drive making up for that mistake.

The 49ers would not have beaten the Falcons with Alex Smith trying to compensate for an injured Justin Smith. Never happen.

The 49ers would never have won the SB with the 49ers first half Defensive break downs. Never. He never would have overcome the 21-6 deficit.

You are stuck with them now. Sorry.

FWIW, they are all still on our 49ers board and constantly defending Alex. WR thread become an Alex thread. Kaepernick thread becomes an Alex thread. SB thread becomes an Alex thread. Free Agency, Russell Wilson, Carson Palmer, rookie salaries -- doesn't matter. They all become Alex Smith threads because of these guys.

Don't blame Alex for the pollution these guys spread, just understand that your forum is in for a long 4 years or however long Alex is a Chief. These guys will be hanging on every game every week, Alexcuses at the ready.

You're a joke fair weather 49er fan. So many fans came out of the woodwork to bash Smith as soon as Kaepernick came in. 10 games and he's the greatest thing since Joe. You're no fan the way you and others go out of your way to bash a dude who was on the team for almost a decade. Man at least when the team was bad a few years ago we didn't have to hear from arrogant jerks like the Kaepernick brigade everyday.

LOL they lost the game bruh, specifically they lost it because of the 9 free points that Kaepernick spotted the Rams.

You must always look at what the numbers mean.

Kaepernick only hit Crabtree 6 times in his first 2 NFL starts.

In his 1st NFL start vs Chicago on MNF, Vernon Davis was Kaepernick's primary receiver with 6 catches.

By Kaepernick's 3rd NFL start, whether he was seeing Crabtree open on game film or whether it was from coaching, Crabtree went 7 catches for 101 and Kaepernick's first 100 yard receiver. In Kaep's 4th start, Crabtree went 9 catches for 93 yards.

No, Alex didn't flat ignore Crabtree. I think Alex just went to his 1st read or checked down, and if his first read wasn't the rare deep pass to Vernon Davis up the seam, it was whoever was under the linebackers. Kaepernick on the other hand, could find Crabtree wherever he was open and wasn't afraid to deliver the ball.

So going behind the numbers I would say Kaepernick targeted Crabtree specifically, while Alex just went to the 1st read or whoever was under the linebackers or in the flat.

I simplified that as it is far more complex and involved that than that, but I'm just trying to go behind the numbers. Kaepernick is able to look for Crabtree where open and put the ball in his hands. It is not as if Alex never threw to Crabtree. It is no secret that receivers skill dropped off badly after VD, Crabtree and Manningham. All things being equal, Alex looked for Vernon Davis first.

This one of those 49er fans, of which we have many now, who just started caring about the niners in the Harbaugh era. He didn't care about the team when they weren't good and didn't actually watch the games. Then he saw Kaepernick have some long runs on sportscenter and had to get on that bandwagon before it filled up.

Shut the FU. Or do you think you are on a 49er's forum? Stick to Chiefs & Alex or GTFO.

If you want to play with me about the 49ers, do it back on the 49ers forum, not here. In fact, do these nice, long-suffering Chiefs fan a favor and just GTFO here anyway.

Now a question for the Chiefs fans. If Matt Cassel was benched for Colin Kaepernick, how many of you would still be swinging on Cassel's dick and putting Kaepernick down for leading the Chiefs to the super bowl.

Do you see what we have to put up with from these brain-diseased Alexsexuals? Strike that. You DO know. You see their worshipful posts daily. I'm just underscoring the obvious. How mentally addled would a Chief's fan have to be to have Kaepernick supersede Matt Cassel, then attack the fans who agree with the move?

I can't begin to tell you the mind of an Alexsexual. It is a cult of personality.
