Tell me how often a Peyton Manning offense has a 2TE set instead of a 3 or 4 WR, 1 TE set. This guy is a blocking TE and nothing more. You don't have him in the game when you're going to throw the ball.

Caleb ****ing Hanie? Billy old**** Volek? Dear God.

Broncos bringing in Caleb Hanie, other free agents

The Denver Post
Free agent quarterback Caleb Hanie.
One day after officially signing quarterback Peyton Manning, the Broncos are furiously attacking free agency to fill another needs.

One hole will be backup quarterback, and Denver is in the process of talking to multiple teams interesting in acquiring Tim Tebow, the team's starting quarterback until Manning arrives.

The first backup the Broncos are looking at is Caleb Hanie, who played at Colorado State, and the previous four seasons with the Chicago Bears.

Hanie did not play well in relief of injured Bears quarterback Jay Cutler last season, going 0-4 with three touchdown passes and 9 interceptions. One of those losses was to the Broncos, 13-10 in overtime in Denver. Hanie did play a nice safe game, completing 12 of 19 passes for 115 yards and no interceptions.

However, the Broncos like Hanie's athleticism and playmaking ability and they believe he was thrust into a difficult situation with the Bears last season.

The Broncos will also talk to quarterback Billy Volek, who is entering his 13th season and has spent the last six years in San Diego.

Steelers cornerback William Gay will join Saints cornerback Tracy Porter for scheduled visits today to the Broncos' Dove Valley complex.

The pair would be the third, and fourth defensive backs the team has hosted, having already signed safety Mike Adams to go with a previous visit from safety Brandon Meriweather.

Gay has spent the last five seasons with the Steelers, having started 15 games in 2011 as he finished with two interceptions. Porter's most notable play in his career is his interception of Manning in the Saints' win in Super Bowl XLIV.

Gay spent Tuesday with the Titans and was on a Wednesday morning flight to Denver.

The Broncos also have interest tight end Matthew Mulligan, a 265-pound blocker, and former Manning teammate, tight end Jacob Tamme. However, Tamme has drawn some interest around the league and may have priced himself off the Broncos' list.

I hear you. The point is that if a couple of slapdicks on an intrawebz mesage board like us can figure something out odds are the professionals may also be aware of same.

On a lighter note, Tebow is into charity and a man of his intelligence might be able to teach Cromartie the names of all of his children with an entire preseason to work on it.

It isn't a loss if you let him go.

Sanchez is not a certifiable "bust", not by a long shot. Very young. He has just under 70 starts College and Pro, most QB's have that coming out of College. Lack of establishing running game and forcing him to pass more, was a departure in game plan. His numbers were actually up yardage and TD's , while down at INT. Lack of wins overall are always unfairly set upon the Quarterback.
Tebow was brought in as a "Gadget" or "WildCard" player, Tony Sparono introduced that system again to the NFL and some teams like the Jets had some of those plays in their book. They had an Athlete like Smith, to run that option, he left last year in free agency. This is a move to bring an Athlete into the roster.

Don't forget that they initially traded a 2nd, 3rd and 4th round pick for that 1st when they picked Tebow. Basically, they traded a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 7th for a future 4th and 6th round pick.
